To go to the GP tomorrow

I think I've got cellulitis on my ankle. It's hot and red and puffy and sore, with a little weeping blister where I scratched it.
It's been there all day and although it's got a bit more painful, it hasn't spread, and I don't have a fever.
It's fine to leave till tomorrow, isn't it?
Is there any chance it'll go away by itself?

Have you take Piriton? I'd wait until first thing unless it spreads.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/06/2017 18:20

**taken

I would phone OOh at least.

Cellulitis can be nasty. Draw around the outside of it too so you can be sure it's not spreading

Allfednonedead · 15/06/2017 18:24

I have drawn round it, and it's spreading very slowly.
What will piriton do? The itchiness was from a spotty rash, which I scratched till it bled. The red puffiness is sore rather than itchy.

Any late night chemist near you,? They are usually great with advice. I am Irish so they save me €60/€100 for the DR or Out of hrs Dr.

pic please, Practice nurse here

picklemepopcorn · 15/06/2017 18:50

How do you know it isn't a reaction to an insect bite? Mine often go like that...

picklemepopcorn · 15/06/2017 18:51

Piriton reduces any allergy reaction. Any hayfever tablet will do.

Allfednonedead · 15/06/2017 19:11

Looks disgusting, but hasn't got worse for a few hours. I suppose it could be an insect bite, but it doesn't feel like it.

A and e. Now.
Don't mess about with things like that.

picklemepopcorn · 15/06/2017 20:02

I often react to bites like that, so it wouldn't be something I'd go for unless it didn't clear up.

I've spent nearly 2 weeks trying (and failing) to get rid of cellulitis as they gave me low-dose antibiotics due to being pregnant. And it's PAINFUL!
The earlier the better to get some antibiotics but not if it'll cost you money- do make sure you go as early as you can tomorrow morning.
