Have just been out collecting leaves and other thrilling wildlife goodies for my daughter to take to nursery for "show and tell". Yippee. Anyone have any idea what this is called? Found along the edge of a field. Hopefully pic will work.

Anyone know what this plant is?

Could it be oats?

If it is for nursery show & tell then I think you can get away with something vague like 'a type of grass'. Its very unlikely that any of the nursery children are going to be able to come up with the botanical name and contradict you.

Haha WhiteRose, you are 100% right, it was more to satisfy my own curiosity!! We have named it "dangly grass", although I think Seeline is right with Drooping Brome! Thanks all.

I'd say Sterile Brome

It looks like one of the fescue grasses
