Am I betraying my brother?

My brother has recently had a mental breakdown after splitting with his girlfriend. He's an alcoholic and his behaviour eventually drove her away.

I'm friends with his ex but my brother has told me that he wants me to end all contact with her and not let her round to my house.

Am I betraying my brother if I still see her?

Whether you're really betraying your brother and whether he has a right to ask you this is neither here nor there. The reality is this is how HE feels, and there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

If you maintain contact with his ex he will be upset, and if he's having such severe problems I can't see him wanting to be see you, certainly not for awhile, or possibly ever again.

Are you happy taking that risk?
