I'm blatantly posting here for traffic as a warning.
Not sure if it's new but haven't come across this type of scam before.
I'm selling a few items on gumtree and got a message to please email them back.
The person claimed to be a woman called Alina Reyes and said she wanted to buy all 4 of my items (which I found odd but great if that's true)
She gave excuses why she couldn't collect in person and had to book a courier and she suggested she will pay via paypal in advance.
I agreed so far (although had my doubts)
Next email said she had just transferred the money and another £460 on top to pay the courier and could i please transfer the £460 to the courier via Moneygram (some excuse why she couldn't do it)
Interestingly the "courier " was someone calle Daniel Bonney in France!
So i did see and email supposedly from Paypal saying that transaction is pending (awaiting payment from Moneygram)
Obviously no money in actual paypal account and the email address was fake:
[email protected]
Needless to say Daniel Bonney aka Alina Reyes is still waiting for the £460
And I have forwarded to paypal phishing email.
Just wanted to post it in case it will help stop someone getting scammed
