To ask for a support thread: FIFA 2018 sticker book

We were in the local newsagents, buying bread. The bloke behind the counter asked DS 5 if he liked football. A nonchalant meh noise was made. A FIFA 2018 World Cup sticker book was produced. DS looked round at his dad, all confused. Dad's eyes had lit up, his mouth wide open, bread clutched slightly too tight.

Please help support me through this difficult period. The cost of stickers. The endless pile of swaps. The frustration as the tournament grows closer. The investment he's already made, justifies the further cost. The fear that sets in when he thinks he might not complete the book. The unconvincing "it's alright" when DS puts one of the stickers in for him upside down and in the wrong space. Please. Help. Me.

I miss the football stickers. DS is now almost 16 so hasn't had them for quite a few years. Has kept all the ones he did have though! He was good though and used to let me stick them in. I had him well trained.

I do dread to think how much money was spent on them though.

But I have fond memories of spending time with DS sorting them out and sticking etc. so maybe it will be the start of a new stage in your relationship with your DH if he lets you play too! Grin

Grin I might go crazy and stick his favourite shiny sticker in for him. Maybe a box of 100 packets as his main Christmas present?!

Haha my dh is collecting those bloody lego cards, everyone is posting on the local mum's site asking for swaps for their kids and I refuse to do it for him.

Monkeybunkey · 12/06/2017 16:00

I'll be collecting the world cup stickers and am happy to arrange swaps with your DH (I appreciate I'm missing the point of this thread entirely!).

Support thread!! Not swaps thread

I will not do the work of the devil! Angry

But if you happen to get Miguel Samudio of Paraguay then DH will be prepared to do a deal. Grin

Oh bugger - this thread made me check the Panini website and lo and behold they've now launched their sticker album for the UEFA 2017 Women's Euros Grin OP - you owe me £120!!!! (1 album & 4 boxes of 50 packs of stickers because otherwise I'll be left with gaps at the end & buying the missing ones is cheating!!)
I love stickers Blush

Now I'm all excited about sticker books again! DS was only 9 months last year and so didn't appreciate the effort I was putting in on his behalf ahem

However, next year he'll be able to stick them in himself watch me stick them in as there's no way they'll be inside the lines if he does it !

ForalltheSaints · 12/06/2017 21:35

If he is Welsh or Irish at least there is a chance of interest lasting beyond the first week of the tournament!

Nikephorus · 13/06/2017 10:56

Mehfruittea No, not all of them. Just the ones for the major footie tournaments Grin Though I may be tempted by the regular football too next year. I wish I had someone to do swapsies with. It was good fun when I was at (primary) school. Growing up is so not fun sometimes!
