Just watching this, and it really annoys me how Andy's friends don't support her. She's doing a job for a year yo get experience, it's only a year, they play with her phone when they know her boss is a dragon
The boyfriend sulks when she is late for his birthday, 1 birthday
Grrrr

I know!! One of my favourite films and they are twats. They didn't mind getting expensive freebies from her new job but heaven forbid she actually worked late or gasp spoke to a male work colleague.
And her boyfriend is such a nob when she misses his birthday. You're an adult FFS, she had to work. I get the feeling he was a bit misogynistic and expected a 9-5 job girlfriend who was there to validate his Amazing-ness when he wanted it. She should've stuck with the gorgeous fashion bloke!

Im not into fashion but the speech Meryl Streep gives after Andie sneers at the belts was bloody genius. I feel through the film she really grew up and got into the whole fashion thing, and should have bombed off her pompous mates and whiney boyfriend

Yanbu. I always think this when I watch it. The bf gives me the absolute rage. When he huffs at her missing his birthday . He's like a 3yo.
The overall message isn't great tbh and Andy is a people pleaser. I worry for her in later life.
Not that I've given it way too much thought or anything .

OP - in the book (based on a true story, I think?) she doesn't give the couture collection to Emily.
She sells it to a designer seconds shop.
She also comes across as an awful whiney brat and does that thing where she says "couple weeks" instead of "a couple of weeks" throughout
