Just watching this, and it really annoys me how Andy's friends don't support her. She's doing a job for a year yo get experience, it's only a year, they play with her phone when they know her boss is a dragon
The boyfriend sulks when she is late for his birthday, 1 birthday

Grrrr

I always think they are a bunch of arseholes too.

ImperialBlether · 11/06/2017 16:02

Yes, I started another thread about this today! You're right - her friends are really awful.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 11/06/2017 16:03

Her bezzie didn't mind her being late when she produced a new Marc Jacobs handbag for her though did she?

Everyone is really shitty to Andy- I thought her Dad was mean to her too.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 11/06/2017 16:32

I know!! One of my favourite films and they are twats. They didn't mind getting expensive freebies from her new job but heaven forbid she actually worked late or gasp spoke to a male work colleague.

And her boyfriend is such a nob when she misses his birthday. You're an adult FFS, she had to work. I get the feeling he was a bit misogynistic and expected a 9-5 job girlfriend who was there to validate his Amazing-ness when he wanted it. She should've stuck with the gorgeous fashion bloke!

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 11/06/2017 16:34

Im not into fashion but the speech Meryl Streep gives after Andie sneers at the belts was bloody genius. I feel through the film she really grew up and got into the whole fashion thing, and should have bombed off her pompous mates and whiney boyfriend

The80sweregreat · 11/06/2017 16:35

Andy is sweet really. Giving her paris collection away like that.
She learnt a few lessons in life about loyalty too.

Ariawyn · 11/06/2017 16:36

So she can't afford rent, but gives away loads of coture(spelling) clothes ???

Still bloody love the film though

Yanbu. I always think this when I watch it. The bf gives me the absolute rage. When he huffs at her missing his birthday Hmm. He's like a 3yo.

The overall message isn't great tbh and Andy is a people pleaser. I worry for her in later life.

Not that I've given it way too much thought or anything Grin.

Ariawyn · 11/06/2017 16:37

So she can't afford rent, but gives away a whole of Paris cotiure(no idea how to spell that) clothes... eBay love!!!

Still bloody love the film though

I think that's why Anne H works so well as Andy tbh.

She just comes across in real life as a complete try-hard people-pleaser.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 11/06/2017 16:40

I wish she'd stuck it out for the year. Felt like her shitty friends won by quitting so soon

ImperialBlether · 11/06/2017 16:40

Just wrote on the other thread about this that Emily Blunt introduced her sister to Stanley Tucci and they ended up married!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 11/06/2017 16:44

I love Stanley Tucci so much! But that's neither here nor there.

DeadGood · 11/06/2017 16:47

OP - in the book (based on a true story, I think?) she doesn't give the couture collection to Emily.

She sells it to a designer seconds shop.

She also comes across as an awful whiney brat and does that thing where she says "couple weeks" instead of "a couple of weeks" throughout

ImperialBlether · 11/06/2017 18:30

But "couple weeks" is what they say over there, DeadGood!

MaQueen · 11/06/2017 18:43

My cousin worked as a stylist on one of the high-end glossy fashion magazines back in the 90s (not Vogue) and she says that TDWP is pretty accurate Shock
