About burn to my arm

Posting here for traffic so maybe iabu for that! Burnt arm with steam from kettle, it formed a blister as shown i first pic, nurse yesterday swiped the blister off leaving raw skin and the bandaged it all up with gauze etc. There are some yellow spots coming through this morning as shown on second pic. Would this just be from the gauze or could it be something else more icky. Not due to change dressing until tomorrow.

I thought you weren't supposed to burst the blisters???

Skin produces a yellow fluid when healing. This is seeping through the gauze. It is normal. Change the dressing as tomorrow as planned. Signs of infection include pain and raised red areas around the burn. If you have concerns about infection return to your GP but otherwise follow the plan and it should heal nicely.

Open wounds will weep a bit.
Clear yellow is fine.
If no pus or unpleasant smell, I'd leave it till tomorrow.

I have no idea one doctor I saw said to leave it and the nurse said it would heal better if she got rid of it, I just went with it, apparently different hospitals have different procedures. I have never had a burn like this! Thank you for the replies, I just wondered if it being yellow wasn't good. No smell. It does sting but I guess that is normal.

Just changed the dressing does this all look good. Sorry but I've never had a burn like this before so don't know!

It'll go crispy round the edges and then start to heal. Just keep the dressing clean and it should be fine. I had similar years ago and the hospital cut the blister off (it was massive though). Now I just have a weird shaded bit on my wrist.

So that little bit of darker skin top right is normal? It doesn't smell or anything, I have just re dressed it. How long did yours take to heal if you remember? I never want to do this again!

A couple of weeks I think and it hurt like hell! I remember the pain well. Yeah the skin is like this now...

Oh you poor thing I bet that's really painful. But it doesn't look infected or anything - smell is a good test too.

You are doing everything right. But for future reference, don't let anyone remove the blister - it is a hygienic sort of dressing that stops bugs getting in whilst bathing the area with serous fluid so you get moist healing (the fastest kind) underneath it. If you are near a chemist and can get some flamazine cream it is antibacterial and can help healing.

No smell at all. Very sore though obviously! It's very confusing, one doctor said not to touch it then the other said it would heal faster if it was removed. I just went with it but boy it hurt. She got some kind of wipe and then just swiped it off really hard, ouch! I feel like any kind of cream on it right now would be too painful?
