It's an opinion piece (and not even s well written one). You're massively overestimating the influence it is going to have.

Not really!

Someone's posted that on one of the threads here and people think it's theirs. Let me find it.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 01/06/2017 11:56

There is nothing there that hasn't been said a billion times before.

Pinkheart5917 · 01/06/2017 11:58

Not really, you are vastly overestimating the influence that will have

SouthWestmom · 01/06/2017 11:59

Same thing?

Looks like it Noeuf

NormaSmuff · 01/06/2017 12:03

it might have gone viral on facebook, supposedly, but not every voter in the country has access to the internet, let alone facebook.
be wary of such optimism op

Sionella · 01/06/2017 12:04

What a load of claptrap. To dissect just one paragraph:

"He lives in a normal house like us"

THAT'S WORTH WELL OVER HALF A MILLION QUID. YEAH, JUST LIKE THE AVERAGE WORKING MAN.

and uses the bus just like us.

SO DOES EVERYONE IN LONDON. BECAUSE THE BUS LANES AND CYCLISTS MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE.

He’s fought for justice and peace for nearly 40 years.

BY INVITING IRA BOMBERS INTO THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT, AMONGST OTHER THINGS.

He has no career ambitions.

ARE YOU HAVING A LAUGH?

And his seat is untouchable.

BECAUSE OF WHERE IT IS. LOOK AT CENTRAL LONDON. MOST OF IT IS LABOUR!

That’s one of the greatest testimonies. No one comes close to removing him from his constituency, election after election.

SEE ABOVE.

I suspect we find most influential the articles which most resonate for us. I found this one very thought provoking, because it sums up my position very well; lifelong labour voter who finds I am not a socialist after all, but a pragmatic liberal centrist. Going to vote lib dem for the first time.

  1. I was waiting for someone to tell me how to vote, thank you, I am incapable of making up my own mind.

  2. Odd isn't it that Labour have shouted loudly about any policies the Tory's have suggested which would redistribute wealth from the more to the less well off (care costs, university fees, winter fuel payments for well off pensioners) ?

  3. If you really believe the media is out to get Corbyn, you obviously missed the televised leaders' debate last night. Even people on the left (eg New Statesman) have complained how biased to JC it was.

selavy · 01/06/2017 12:11

Zzzzzzz

Danglingmod · 01/06/2017 12:12

Sums up my position very well, too, oldbirdy.

The rise in authoritarianism from both Tory and Labour parties under their current leaders is sad and scary.

I think there are very many liberal minded but fiscally centrist voters who feel deserted by the two main parties. How does one vote if Lib Dems are a wasted vote in your constituency OR you were a remain voter but one who doesn't think it's ultimately right to want a second referendum?

oldbirdy · 01/06/2017 12:17

Good question dangling. People keep saying "vote to keep the Tories out" but I actually don't want Labour in either with that top team and those priorities either. So I am not voting tactically, just with my heart. Realistically lib Dems aren't going to form the next government so the new referendum is a moot point for me.

oldbirdy · 01/06/2017 12:19

I don't want Corbyn to get any idea that he has a mandate from me or my vote either.

No other explanation for the personality cult in the media.

It will have a huge influence and people thinking they aren't influenced by Murdoch are kidding themselves, naive or stupid, take your pick Grin
If they weren't so influential why would they start campaigns to disrespect certain people in the public eye.
They wouldn't bother if nobody was going to be influenced.

Oh god not that one. It's really doing the rounds isn't it. Is that the level of our political debate now.

sharklovers · 01/06/2017 13:25

No, I still think he's a filthy piece of socialist shit.
