To wonder how you brush gigantic wisdom teeth?

One side isn't too bad. Huge, but I can just about manoeuvre a brush round.

The other side - oh my Jesus. Tooth is colossal like a dinosaur tooth. I can't brush it properly because it's so large I just can't fit a brush in. Have tried using a child's brush and even so have ripped my mouth open and spitting pure blood into the sink

I can't get to the dentist before July.

Can ANYONE help? I'm in so much pain!

Mumnest solution is to use a toilet brush. Brand new and unused probably best.

I have a similar issue (not sure if it's quite dinosaur size mind you)
I use interdental brushes, they're great you can get them in supermarkets and they're tiny and flexible so you can really make sure they've gotten into every crevice.
Depending on how much you want to spend you an also get electric, air flossers. I've got a Phillips one and think it was around £60. I do tend to use the interdental brushes more often though tbh.

Even electric toothbrushes are too big one side is so huge, it's awful!

Why is it sore, do you have an infection?

Because it bleeds whenever I brush. Well the surrounding area does anyway. So it's all swollen and painful.

I have a small head on my electric toothbrush.
Then I use a soft children's brush (also small head) for the gums when it's tender.

I don't have any wisdom teeth so not much help. Have you tried an electric toothbrush with a smaller head so you can reach the very back?

If it's really painful then it's probably infected.

Perhaps use a daily mouthwash, too

If it gets sore more than once or twice you can have it taken out,
Which can be much more pleasant than enduring months of on/off pain,

I had 2 that were really reluctant to come through, would come through a little, get sore and stop, Every few weeks, told the dentist and she referred me to get them out. They shouldn't be any more than a mild dull ache.

If it's the first time, floss them bending the floss around the tooth and rubbing up and down so you get the sides too, and dont worry too much. Use mouthwash and you'll be fine

Stop cutting it up with a brush whilst it is bleeding.
Use Corsodyl mouthwash religiously for ten days. (But then stop and switch to the "daily" version or it will stain your teeth yellow if you drink tea/coffee at all).
Try again with the small toothbrush.

I have recently had all 4 of mine out - SO much easier to clear the other teeth properly. They were growing at an awkward angle. Is the pain being caused by the fact you can't clean, do you think? It may be causing infection.

I had mine under GA because I had other dental surgery at the same time, but most folk get theirs out under local / sedation.

If you're having trouble brushing it, I'd look into getting it pulled. Especially if it's that large; I'd be concerned that it's affecting the tooth next to it.

Well, I am desperate to have it out but the dentist refuses!

I won't use Cordorsyl as it does stain teeth ... use listerine.

I couldn't brush the back edge of either of my top ones - there simply was no room for the brush to get behind them.

Dentist kept saying they were fine but i could feel they were rough if i forced my tongue / finger back there. In the end i forced one of those little mirrors on a stick back there (it hurt but i persevered) and could see they were black!

-Hot salty mouthwashes best for pericoronitis 1tsp salt dissolved in 1 mug of cooled down boiling h20. Aim for 6 mugs HSMW over 24hrs, especially after eating.

-get an interspace brush, not an inderdental brush. Interspace brush is specifically for this situation. Clean twice a day.

-pain relief paracetamol alternated with ibuprofen, assuming your medical history permits.

-any facial swelling ? Restriction in opening ? If so -go to your dentist, debridement of the area +/- local anaesthetic +/- antibiotics can be prescribed.

-multiple wisdom teeth infections need a referral to Oral Surgery.

This is no help whatsoever, but I'm curious. My wisdom teeth are really flat, like they're the same area as the nearby molars but not very deep iyswim. Is that normal or are they just not properly erupted? Sorry for crashing your thread

I have a wisdom tooth that is masquerading as a molar. Even the dentist was confused. But I can brush it fine. The other three are only half irrupt did and in the places where they should be, so I can get the brush around them easily enough.

One of my upper back wisdom teeth has just started growing. I'm 45! So far it's about half way through and not sore. But how bizarre.

I hope the other ones don't come through now. Is it usual for random ones to grow?
