they've come back whining that they want to go round to play at their friends' grans house. I don't know this person and tbh it is quite a walk to go round their and suss them out (whether it is Ok with them or not) so I said "no, not this time, maybe another time". But now they've gone off grizzling and saying its not fair and I'm so mean etc etc. Well, excuse me, but I thought buying them a brand new scooter each today for starters, wasn't such a mean thing to do, plus we've baked a whole load of flapjacks for DD1's school project. GRRR!

no you're not unreasonable.
offer them the choice of playing on new scooters or cleaning chimneys.

Well, they're scooting happily now, but are so grubby they might as well be sweeps!
