5 weeks prego to change curtains?

Housequeen101 · 28/05/2017 16:00

Just changed my great Nans curtains, was on a ladder but had to stretch which I felt , now, an hour later, my lower tummy hurts, done the dreaded Google and it's not looking good, I'm only 5 weeks. Can you miscarry from doing something like this? We've been trying for so long for this baby and I'd hate to thing I've caused a mc - thanks

No I think you will be fine, not many years ago people wouldn't have even known they were pregnant at 5 weeks.

bloated1977 · 28/05/2017 16:05

Without sounding unkind at 5 weeks the baby is so tiny it's just a mass of cells. It's well protected down in the uterus. You'll be fine.

Zebra31 · 28/05/2017 16:06

Op - congratulations Flowers

The baby is tiny at this point and well protected behind your pelvic bone. I really don't think stretching like that would cause a mc. If you take into consideration people do yoga, exercise and all sorts of things that are harder than changing curtains through pregnancy it's very very unlikely what you did would cause a mc.

BritInUS1 · 28/05/2017 16:07

You've probably pulled a muscle x

IntrusiveBastards · 28/05/2017 16:08

Don't Google, seriously it doesn't help. I have miscarried and had a baby and both times Google told me I was dying.

If you are worried rest up for your own peace of mind but the majority of miscarriages in the first trimester are due to a poorly baby not exercise or stretching or a drink or forgetting a vitamin...but I know from experience those things can race through some of our minds.

If you do any exercise or stretching like yoga it's the same feeling. Everything can be a bit more tender there though. In both my pregnancies I felt tugging aches and period pains and pregnancy can be a time of great anxiety.

abbsisspartacus · 28/05/2017 16:08

No it's just easier to pull muscles when your pregnant

Housequeen101 · 28/05/2017 16:13

Thank you all for your replies, I just can't get it out my mind, like I'm waiting for something terrible like a mc to happen. Not a first time mum either! I didn't worry as much with my first as I was blissfully ignorant and didn't know a lot about Mcs xx

Sweetheart unfortunately none of us can say you won't miscarry but please rest assured that a bit of reaching won't cause anything more than a pulled muscle.

Whatsername17 · 28/05/2017 16:20

I've had a miscarriage. Nothing you do will cause a miscarriage, unless you are involved in a terrible accident in which you get injured. You are likely feeling implantation stretching. Good luck with thr rest of your pregnancy.

Housequeen101 · 28/05/2017 16:21

I have anxiety and have come off my meds which obviously doesn't help 🙈 Thank you all very much I fell much better xx

You do get pain anyway when pregnant as all the ligaments stretch. Especially first time.

Pinkheart5917 · 28/05/2017 16:28

Awww bless you. The anxiety around pregnancy I found bad at times, especially in the early days so you are not alone.

Most likely you will be absolutely fine and you've more than likely pulled a muscle.

Good luck with your pregnancy 💐

CheshireChat · 28/05/2017 16:30

Also hormones can make you feel pain more strongly (or at least that happened to me) so that could also be a reason.

Putting some curtains up certainly won't cause a MC, however you could rest for a bit if it'll ease your mind. If you'll just lie there stressing though, find something to keep you busy.

It's quite rare for bed rest to be necessary and it only tends to be a requirement for specific issues in later pregnancy.

Best of luck!

Talith · 28/05/2017 16:32

I put ten 6' square fencing panels in on my own at 10 weeks pregnant. Grin You will most likely be fine and if God forbid anything bad happens it won't be related to that. Your uterus is stretching. It will feel strange. Try not to worry (although we all do - it affects your body in a whole load of new weird ways!) Congratulations too Smile

chocatoo · 28/05/2017 16:35

Think about Serena Williams the tennis player who won a major tennis tournament when she was in the early phase! Hope all is well and congrats!

WomblingThree · 28/05/2017 16:38

Life was much easier when you didn't find out at five minutes pregnant.

NetflixandBill · 28/05/2017 16:43

I always got quite sore period type pains between 5-8 weeks pregnant. Nothing you do or do not do will cause or prevent a miscarriage so early. It's all down to nature and the make up of the cells.

TotoToe · 28/05/2017 16:48

Your baby is well protected.

I sanded wooden floorboards and painted a whole room, as well as many other things, during pregnancy.

intergalacticbrexitdisco · 28/05/2017 17:09

I moved house at 5 weeks :)

He's squishing cake into the carpet now.

NotAnotherUserName5 · 28/05/2017 17:12

Don't worry. Like a pp said, you've probably pulled a muscle.

I changed my curtains (pita as it was to do!) last month at 33 weeks. I'm sure I looked a site from the outside, but all was ok. My stomach hurt a bit too from all that stretching.

Congratulations Flowers

Housequeen101 · 28/05/2017 17:39
