To go out tonight when kids are ill?

Have had tonight planned for a few weeks. Have family coming down to my mums that I don't see often. As I was getting ready to leave, my 6 year old started vomiting. We put her to bed where she slept for about an hour. She's now playing in the bath although she's not quite right still. My son started going from the other end but again, he's fine in himself and a runny bum isn't unusual for him really. I feel bad about going, dp insists he'll be okay. I had planned to drink tonight and even if I wasn't I don't have a car to drive back if needed, but it's not too far to taxi. I both want to go to see my family and have a drink, but I feel like an awful parent even considering it.

Your DP can cope. Its not like you are leaving them with a random babysitter or something!

lanbro · 27/05/2017 18:49

You're leaving them with their parent, go and enjoy yourself Grin

Gileswithachainsaw · 27/05/2017 18:50

They are with their dad and he's fine with it. Go.

The only tho g I would say is have a Sri k but don't get drunk and make sure you are in a fit state to help in the night and/or get up to help in the morning if it's a rough night for your dh

DartmoorDoughnut · 27/05/2017 18:50

What would you tell your DP to do? Do that Flowers

PurpleDaisies · 27/05/2017 18:51

They don't need two parents to stay in.

Trust that your dp knows what they are doing and enjoy yourself.

Bigblug · 27/05/2017 18:54

dartmoor I would tell him to stay but that's because I'm terribly phobic of vomit. Don't mind poo but sick has me cowering on the floor. GrinBlush

Leaving with a babysitter, no. Leaving with DP, yes.

Crunchymum · 27/05/2017 19:06

Go. They are with Daddy, they'll be fine.

Maybe don't get super pissed though.

viques · 27/05/2017 19:16

Have a great evening, don't worry, they will be fine.

onetworedblue · 27/05/2017 19:23

They will be fine, their dad will cope. Just try and have a good night!

harderandharder2breathe · 27/05/2017 19:30

They're with a parent, they'll be fine! I was expecting you to say you were leaving them with a babysitter, which would be worth agonising over, not their other parent!

Phoebefromfriends · 27/05/2017 19:46

If the roles were reversed would you expect your DP to stay at home?

DartmoorDoughnut · 27/05/2017 20:52

Hope you're now out and having fun with your family!

Bigblug · 27/05/2017 21:20

I'm on my way! But I've bought one bottle of prosecco instead of two Grin
