I'm going out for some drinks then back to a couple's house for dinner. There are a few invited and it's not formal but a lot of these people are quite stylish.

I generally look like I've been dragged backwards through a hedge.

I'm SHIT at choosing clothes, can't put them together. I'm especially bad at selecting shoes and boots. They never look good on me because I have wide feet. The onlt things that look nice are boots.

I've just lost some weight...now a size 10 and want to go tomorrow to get something nice to wear.

It's winter here in Oz...what should I look out for? I'm a pear shape...I like my waist...and have a small bust.

I know this is not style and beauty but I hoped people might give me some quick style tips...my hair's nice as have just had it done.

Is your winter more like a UK spring/Autumn?

Any long skirts? As in to your ankles. You can still wear boots under them.
Then a blouse tucked in to emphasise your waist?

user1491572121 · 26/05/2017 13:11

Well it's Autumn really. I don't know about long skirts...I always feel like a drama teacher in them! And blouses...I've never worn an actual blouse since school! Grin

Smart jeans with your boots and a top
Statement necklace?

LorLorr2 · 26/05/2017 13:17

A drama teacher Grin Grin

Try a Google Images search. "Winter outfits", "Autumn outfits', "mature fashion" (sorry! It's just that if you dont stick that word in there the results are all 20-something stick figures)
Might give you some inspiration or something to copy x

Could you go to a department store and ask for a personal shopper?

CondensedMilkSarnies · 26/05/2017 13:21

What about something like this?

I'd say jeans, a nice (long sleeved) top and some heeled boots. And obviously a coat/jacket if it's cold. Don't be afraid to wear fitted clothes, so long as you are comfortable. Sounds like you've done great with your weight loss.

Have you got a short leather jacket?

CondensedMilkSarnies · 26/05/2017 13:51

CondensedMilkSarnies · 26/05/2017 13:54

Maybe a jumper over the shirt if it's chilly?

There's no reason any woman should ever feel she has to wear heels on any occasion. I never do.

user1491572121 · 26/05/2017 14:01

Neither do I. I was just being polite. Grin

I can't wear heels any more (bloody arthritis in my big toe ) although I'd love to , there's loads of nice flats out there though .

I've just discovered slim jeans, turned up a bit at the bottom worn with a pair of converse look nice . I told my DD that I feel really 'with it' in them . She patted me on the head and said 'aw bless you' Grin
