Budgie Smugglers

Posting for traffic!

I'm not sure I think they are any more hygienic than longer swimwear but hey ho - off to France in a few weeks. Can my husband get away with swim shorts like these? Or do they need to be proper budgie smugglers?

Disclaimer - this is not my husband !

Yeah those are fine. My dh has similar for Eurocamp. You really do need them, life guards make you wear them, there was a shop outside camp selling them and making a killing off English and Irish men!!!

Amammi · 22/05/2017 18:12

These are available in many colours

HebeJeebie · 22/05/2017 18:14

Shock Grin

allegretto · 22/05/2017 18:17

What's wrong with them? Am I alone in quite liking them? (The original pic not the yellow monstrosity!)

operaha · 22/05/2017 18:24

My husband has this exact pair. Not for holiday though, just popping to the pool and sauna here in England. I don't mind them he does resemble that pic Blush we are off to a euro camp type place in France for half term, had forgotten this rule!

ShatnersBassoon · 22/05/2017 18:29

I like the look of tight trunks. You're not alone, allegretto Grin

AnyFucker · 22/05/2017 18:31

The bloke in the opening pic has no penis. Poor chap.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 22/05/2017 18:32

They are similar to the ones my DH had to wear when we went to France. Our campsite was run by an English family but the swimwear rule was very strictly enforced. Lots of rules around French pools. We had no footwear, no drinks other than bottled water and no food allowed what so ever. It did make for a very clean and tide pool area though.

MugwumpJism · 22/05/2017 18:33

Errrrr what's wrong with them !!

nocoolnamesleft · 22/05/2017 18:33

I'd always assumed they were worried about perineal fallout.

tigerskinrug · 22/05/2017 18:35

I came on here to say that I suspected that a pair at our local farmers market were offenders, they always bring new budgies every week and they are kept in tiny cages...Blush

Anyhoo in the majority of Eurocamp/Canvas pools in France and italy have this rule. It says so in their brochure under the 'pool' section.

TestTubeTeen · 22/05/2017 18:43

Yeah, no board shorts, no Bermuda shorts, no cut offs, nothing that might be worn anywhere but in the water, gathering grass, dust etc.

All public and holiday park and shared villa complex pools.

In Italy many places expect a swimming cap, too!

TestTubeTeen · 22/05/2017 18:44

They have vending machines selling Speedos for the unprepared!

Branleuse · 22/05/2017 18:45

in the eurocamps ive been too, those tiny shorts are fine, but i believe some of them are stricter than others, so it might be worth reading the parc reviews and see how strict they are. German and Italian ones are supposed to be even stricter

reallyanotherone · 22/05/2017 18:52

I'd always assumed they were worried about perineal fallout.

How does your perineum fall out?

And yy to why is it any different to a woman in a tiny bikini. Isn't she concerned about perineal fallout? I have seen many a bikini bottom where i can clearly see the lady's shaving habits, and in these days of pubic hair removal it can get anatomic.

But i come from a club swimming background where the shorts in the o/p, and speedo's, are perfectly normal swimming attire. Shorts and bikini's are more for hanging round the side of the pool, not actually getting in.

Lucked · 22/05/2017 18:56

We have emailed our eurocamp and apparently DH can get away with jammers but that's not everywhere.

123rd · 22/05/2017 18:59

Was going to say about swim caps too. We had this in Spain in a local municipal pool. DH looked fucking hilarious in one they let him borrowConfused

Melfish · 22/05/2017 19:07

Oh god. We're intending to go to a waterpark near Lake Garda next week- Caneva (?). Has anyone else been and are budgie smugglers compulsory? Couldn't see any mention on the website...
