Parking wars (diagram included)

I have been wanting to do this for a while now. I know I am not BU but it's an interesting one and I would like to know what you think. Also a usual but have name changed due to including details of the area I live in.

So I live in a house that is in a private block consisting of converted flats (that used to be a school) and houses that surround the area around the flats. As it was once a school we have a sort of entrance with pillars either side where there was once a gate (W). Up to this there is a highly built up road with houses either side and no parking restrictions so people park their cars either side (cars are C and houses are H although the wrong way round Blush). The flats have numbered car parking spaces and there are quite a few blocks of 4 parking spaces including 3 flats car parking spaces and a V for visitor space as seen in diagram. The yellow highlighted bits are where people who own two cars usually park. From the wall and pillars onward towards the flats, it is private. I live in a house inside the private bit (not included on the map) and I have my own drive but have colleagues who live in the flats so the problem isn't much to me but I do love a bit of parking drama.

This road is very, very busy with parked cars because it is near a hospital so workers and patients park here a lot. Also the local area does not have much parking anyway so you take what you can get.

So, the culprit lives at H with a circle. If he goes out in the car, this man has two cars and ALWAYS will put his cones outside his house. It drives me mad. Especially because when he leaves and arrives home, he has to wait in the middle of the road, get his cones out of the way and then parallel park into his spot.

But sometimes, for some reason he has no where to park. I'm not sure if that is because someone steals his cones or moves them out of the way. I have often seen people park so closely to the cones that he couldn't possibly fit. What he does then does bother me and my friend. He then parks in the private area. Sometimes just in one of the yellow highlighted areas, sometimes even in the V spaces!

I am not sure what his immediate neighbours think, as I haven't lived here long, but I am sure its annoying. I can't possibly BU as I haven't done anything in retaliation, however am I right to be annoyed?

Also, if you live anywhere near this road, I'm sure you will recognise it straight away.

So to summarise, when he can't park on the main road where he lives, he sometimes parks on private property, including sometimes parking on private allocated spaces?

Of course that's annoying. Do you have some kind of residents' committee? Could you look at having electric gates installed and residents all having a fob? This worked well in the place where I used to live.

Just playing devil's advocate - do residents often take up lots of street parking? The cone thing is bonkers, but people do often go bonkers about parking issues.

You could superglue Captain Conehead's cones into one supercone.

Although it would be wrong.

A note on the windscreen saying "You are Parking on Private Property and therefore trespassing. Please do not do so again" seems to be in order.

Bah! Your diagram won't open on my phone.

I would find it very cheeky. Are there any notices around saying who can use the visitors places?

Gartenzwerg · 21/05/2017 19:56

I may be missing the point here but your diagram reminds me of when we used to have to draw a picture of a uterus in Biology.

parkingwarsqueen · 21/05/2017 20:00

No!! Gartenzwerg I deliberately tried to avoid that!! As soon as I did the groove in the road I realised it looked like a uterus and tried to add a kink on the right to change the shape.

I would really love to steal his cones, but I can imagine he has a shed full for times like this.

Gartenzwerg me too Grin

Shadowboy · 21/05/2017 20:00

Are there signs on the pillars that state it's private property and that parking is for residents only?

SnickersWasAHorse · 21/05/2017 20:04

Is there anyway you can park to block him in?
