AIBU to want to start a dating website for denture wearers?

Because, LBH the chances of any of us who wear dentures having a sex life again are zero if we are currently single.
I personally just look at dating websites and think "What;s the point"? Because who is going to want to date/ kiss/have sex with someone who doesn't have their own teeth anymore and looks like Whistler's mother without their denture?

In some cases they can really restrict what you eat.

You wake up in the morning without your teeth in, it isn't attractive.

Your very much judged on having missing teeth, when it can be a medical issue that hasn't involved drug use.

Do you were dentures and are you on the dating scene?

OP - do you mean having all your teeth as dentures or just a few. I had a denture for one tooth years ago (before I had a bridge) - it didn't affect anything I did or was that just because it was a one tooth denture?

I have dipped my toe into the online dating scene after divorce, but the denture issue puts me off actually meeting in person. I prefer to flirt online.
I just feel that the only people who can understand the denture thing are other denture wearers so, yes, having dentures can stop you having a sex life because it makes you physically unatractive when removed.

one tooth? That's nothing. I am talking about a full denture in your 40's.

Starting really? It didn't affect you? I have a one tooth denture and I'm quite wary of eating certain things in case it pulls out my tooth! Apples and corn on the cob for instance. Kissing IS a bit of an issue as you don't want your partner to feel the plate!

I have hereditary gum disease so even if I could afford implants my gums wouldn't be able to take them.
I have had a full upper dental plate and for over a year now and I still hate them. I went private and paid over £1,000 for them so not cheap.
However, I cannot imagine ever having sex again never mind a relationship, unless I stipulate no kissing and never removing them. how is that going to work/
I seriously think that a dating website for denture wearers might/should work.
There has to be other people in this situation, surely?

User I can't bite into things very easily, like apples if they aren't cut up, but I find if the Apple is cut up into small pieces, it's OK. Same thing with meat and other things. I don't eat anything really sticky like toffee But I don't like it so much anyway. I had to have three root canal's in April on front teeth and one of the front teeth snapped so now has the post. I am very careful not to bite down directly on that tooth.

And hey, why not? Sounds like a good idea to me. The website I mean

My best friend wears full dentures top and bottom. It's never stopped her from dating and shes now in a relationship with someone she met through online dating. She's late 30s btw.
The smile her dentures gives her is infinitely better than the one she had with her own teeth she says and i agree.

Was thinking the exact same thing and found smizin.com apparently you can meet or date others there that don't want to be judged by their teeth, such as us denture wearers. I got my dentures and was so fed up about it. Going to check it out myself. Think it's time to get out there. Hope that helps. Good luck :)

I think that if you meet the right person, a decent guy, he will love you for who you are and the dentures won't be an issue. Acne, alopecia etc sufferers have relationships, so why can't you? Smile
If anything, you'll weed out any nobs who wouldn't have the maturity to handle something a bit different about you. I guess you have to 'own it' and seem nonchalant about it at first which I can understand might be hard if you feel rubbish at the moment! Fake it til you make it? x

Oh and btw, as this is England yellow/missing/stained teeth are probably more common than a great smile like your denture must give you Wink

Thanks EmmaLou123 I like the sound of smizin.com I'm in the process of getting dentures and haven't been able to come to terms with it, if i can find someone to date that understands it should help take away some of the fear.

One of my pals married a man who she met in her mid 20s who had a full top set of dentures. Didn't put her off.

My own father had all his top teeth removed in his 20s (as was the thing). Growing up I never saw him without his teeth and it wasn't noticeable. I actually think he slept with them in. Is that gross.

My grandma had dentures since she was 30. The only people who have seen her without them are dentists/surgeons/nurses. Not even her own husband/children/grandchildren/great grandchildren, so nobody necessarily needs to know at first if your discreet about it, then when your more confident with them you can broach the subject. Everyone has flaws, I have pcos and am incredibly hairy, I also have severe acne on my back, my husband doesn't care because he loves me how I am, so it doesn't bother me anymore.

I have a dating site in development already, for dentures wearers. I'm a denture wearer myself and searched long and hard for ways to ease the whole drama of letting people know at the right time.In the end I decided just making a site would be easier and take the pressure of everyone in the same position. I need moderators for the site too, so any members here wanting a free membership in return for helping to test my site till its ready, give me a bell.

The Only Way I Can see Dating working out with NOT a thought of embarrassment is to Date someone with Dentures, themselves. There Wldn't even Be a conversation about it, on either part! However, I checked into ICUPID and some Other one that was mentioned Here, but forget it!! No Such Sites that I can Attest to anyway! How frustrating, never mind Very disappointing! And so my question is.. does Anyone know of a Real existing Site, for Us? If Not, is Anyone out there computer savvy enough, and also the willingness to Start one?? I would myself but I am NOT computer literate, At All!! But I Can tell you, should anyone Start something like this, a Dating Site for Denture wearers, I Can Be Sure that within the First Month or so, there Wld Be 'Thousands' of subscribers!!
