PT salary paying for FT childcare

I work shifts any 3 days a week and put in a request that I have 2 set days off for ease of organising childcare. (So an example would be 3 shifts on either Mon/Tues/ Wed /or the weekend). It was declined due to poor staffing levels. This means I need to pay FT childcare x2 (to cover any shift possibility) but I'm only taking home a PT NHS wage.. I have no family support that can help out. Any ideas?

How far in advance do you know which days you are working?

The nursery my DC went to (DD left less than a year ago) could accommodate shift workers, as long as they gave something like a month's notice of their shifts.

I'm surprised they didn't bite your hand off for regular weekend shifts. Can't think of anything more likely to succeed than that.

Would you have the option to go full time? Not ideal I know, but it would pay for the nursery.

Not heard of a nursery that's quite so flexible but will look again.
