AIBU about OH's 'picking'?

If my OH is relaxing on the sofa or as a passenger in the car when I'm driving, I've noticed he finds it hard to keep his hands still. He is either picking his nose (yuk) or picking at his stubble which involves him contorting his face into a very strange (and not very attractive) position. He doesn't do this any other time apart from when he's sitting still but I find it rather offputting and extremely irritating. When we were on a 4 hour flight recently he was doing it constantly. I felt sorry for the other passengers who could no doubt see him picking his nose! WIBU to say something? I realise most of us do have a bit of a pick every now and then but I wouldn't do it in view of other people!

Of course you wouldn't be u to say something.

I can't understand how you haven't already. Also I don't think most people pick their noses, I don't. The thought makes me sick.

I'd be sickened at someone picking their nose in front of me. I couldn't deal with it at all.

That really is a disgusting habit - I can't believe he picks it in public! Maybe he just doesn't realise he's doing it? Confused Let him know sharpish how revolting it is!

He may not be aware. Equally he may be aware that he does this as a general behaviour, but isn't aware of the precise moments when it happens. It would be worth talking to him to see if he realises what he's doing.

I bite my nails (I'm late 40s), I've recently realised that I also pick at the creases at the side of my nose, and I scratch my head (I don't have nits). I know I do these things but cannot stop. But I'm finally trying to do something about the behaviours as I know that others find them irritating, so tomorrow I'm seeing a hypnotherapist ... Blush

Yes, I don't think he's aware that he's doing it

I pick EVERYTHING. Nose, eyes, eyelashes, scalp, I bite the skin around my nails and I you hey face constantly.

I've just self-diagnosed with sensory processing disorder, which caused me a lot of anxiety as a child. These behaviours are symptomatic but also therapeutic.

He probably won't stop doing it, even if you tell him you hate it.

'I you hey face' means 'I touch my face' (I think...) Blush
