To think I have gone through menopause without realising?

I'm currently mid 40's. I was on the implant for 3 years during which time I only had periods erratically in the last year.

I had the implant removed two months ago, but no period for a few weeks before that. No period since.

I've had other symptoms which my GP thinks could be due to the menopause, but no hot flushes.

Could it have been disguised by the implant? My mother went through menopause early 40's.

Wouldn't it be lovely if it had disguised it. I think you may have not given it enough time though Its taken a year for me to get my period back after being on the depo for 3 years.

I hope you have breezed over it though.

I thought I had bypassed menopause when I came off the pill at 49 - symptoms for 4 years, but feeling great.

The periods came back 5 months later. Hmm

And, boy, did they come back. Do not throw away the sanitary towels.

You might not get any periods, but beware that it takes a couple of years after that for your hormones to bottom out, so you may be hit with symptoms further down the line.

Look after yourself, keep fit and healthy and keep a spare packet of big sanitary towels in the drawer

Second the 'big' sanitary towels. Biblical flooding has nothing on my late 40's menopausal periods!

The Mirena coil masked mine. No symptoms. My post-menopausal state has been confirmed by the GP. So, it does happen.

And before anyone thinks about being jealous, I was having the biblical flooding pre-Mirena!

Thanks for your comments and experiences, I've got a blood test booked for next week so will find out then!
