Had my DS 10.5 months ago tried the Mirena coil when he was 3.5 months old...was horrendous side effects sadly getting thus fitted coincided with post baby hair fall starting and I literally lost 30% of my hair within 7 weeks! It was a double whammy hormone mess up and Was horrendous and it's only just growing back to about 5/6 inches long now (the hair I lost) the thing is hormonal contraception doesn't work for me,my GP said the coil should as its localised hormones but it didn't. I gave in when it wasn't stopping falling out after 6 long weeks and had it removed. Barrier method isn't working out very well so I'm thinking about trying the copper coil ?
Anyone ever had this and had hair loss issues?! I'm scared to try if it's a possible side effect but feel like it's a matter of time before I fall pregnant again if we don't change things! For context I'm happily married,in my very early 30's and own our own home so wouldn't be a disaster if I did but really want to wait for another baby until DS is a good bit older as feel he deserves all my focus and attention for now.

I have a copper one, it's non hormonal so shouldn't have that effect. I've had no issues with it at all

I've had 2 copper coils and they are great. First one for 5 years then took it out had DD then had it put back in when she was 5 months old. No issues at all and having it put in the second time didn't hurt at all and I didn't get cramps.
Only thing I'd recommend is that if you do ttc for DC then give yourself a month between having it out and ttc. I got pregnant without having a period and had a miscarriage. Could be totally unrelated but no point in risking it.

I've got a copper coil. I haven't had any problems with thinning hair. It's non-hormonal so I can't see how it could affect your hair.

I do get pretty bad cramps every month but other than that I love it.
