I'd take it to mean they had a great time and much needed letting-go.

At first I thought you meant sex 😂 if it was a night at the pub I'd say it was a compliment.

Ok well it was a bit of a weird one, they're a friend of my dad going through a tough time. They were telling me a bit about their problems, I listened then got them absolutely smashed and I guess made them remember their youth?! It was a weird one and I think they're quite embarrassed but this was the feedback

To me it would mean they'd had a good time and a good chat that was helpful for them. Cathartic is good, means you helped them sort things out a bit.
