To be worried....SOOOOOOO gross

Am flapping a bit...had to pop 8month DD on floor in kitchen to deal very briefly with DS. After a few secs I came back in to find bubs clutching a handful of entrails which she was putting in her mouth. She had blood on both hands and around her mouth and a sort of weird powder or grain which had come out of some of the guts. Having grown up in Africa I know I will have ingested all manner of stuff so the blood doesn't worry me....it's the grain. I'm worried someone could have put mouse bait down and she's got it into her. The cat seems fine the sod....he's only hunting because all of a sudden he doesn't like the cat food that he's been eating just fine for ages.
NHS 111 have told me to take her to A&E which seems on the one hand sensible and on the other hand seems a bit dramatic. She is OK at the omens but it's only been ten minutes or so.

HELP!!!

Please take her to A+E

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 06/05/2017 09:18

Do what 111 have advised & take her to a&e! Hopefully it'll turn out to be something & nothing but it's not worth risking.

amistillsexy · 06/05/2017 09:18

Take DD and the remains to a and e. They will probably monitor her for a bit, then send you home and tell you to bring her back if she vomits or gets a fever.
Most likely she'll be fine but you need to go. If you don't, when you've already been told to, it'll look very odd.
If you go now you might catch a lull between the still drunk from last night and the newly injured from DIY and gardening...

mummydarkling · 06/05/2017 09:19

It is unlikely she will have ingested anything too harmful but you need to be assured. Have they asked you to bag the carcass for testing? It may be worth bringing the guts/entrails with you (safely bagged up).

Best wishes to you and baby.

AliceThrewTheFookingGlass · 06/05/2017 09:20

I know 111 are often extra cautious but I'm not comfortable advising someone to go against there advice so I would suggest you go in. Do you have any of the remains left? If so put them in a freezer bag to take with you.

anotherdayanothersquabble · 06/05/2017 09:20

Take a sample of the white powder and the grains and whatever else you can scoop up and go to A&E.

AliceThrewTheFookingGlass · 06/05/2017 09:21

Their* even.

Spellcheck · 06/05/2017 09:23

Good advice above. Don't give her anything to eat or drink until they say it's ok. She will probably be fine, but always good to check. Good luck!

MissCommunication · 06/05/2017 09:23

Hadn't thought of taking entrails. Will fish them out of bin and take. You MN people are fab x

Take her to A&E Hmm

whifflesqueak · 06/05/2017 09:24

my ds ate a bit of a mouse when he was a baby.

Dr was fairly blasé and my boy was fine. it's just gross.

but if you've recently put down poison then it's worth a check.

LadyGlitterSparklesSeriously · 06/05/2017 09:25

Oh dear god, go to A&E!

CandleWithHair · 06/05/2017 09:28

Good grief, poor you and DD OP! Hope you are seen quickly at A&E and that there's nothing worse going on than knowing your little one has ingested cat prey guts. 😷

Trifleorbust · 06/05/2017 09:35

I feel ill reading this. Get her medical attention.

BeeThirtythree · 06/05/2017 09:45

Troll your DD to A+E, always best to be safe. Do you know who put the trap down? Maybe ask them what they used...take the bottle with you to show the medical staff just what may have been ingested. Hope your DD is ok.

Floggingmolly · 06/05/2017 09:48

Seriously Hmm. Your baby has eaten possibly poisoned animal innards and you think a trip to A & E is a bit dramatic?
If this is real, get her medical attention pronto, ffs

Sorry misread the post

Honeybee79 · 06/05/2017 09:50

Get her to A & E.

BeeThirtythree · 06/05/2017 09:53

Navy Oh I blame autocorrect! It seems to suggest the most random/bizarre possibilities. Things that just do not make any sense 😉

user1493035447 · 06/05/2017 09:57

This is why people shouldn't own cate. How disgusting. What I the cat had attacked her while you were away?

user1493035447 · 06/05/2017 09:58

*own cats

Supermagicsmile · 06/05/2017 10:07
