Otherwise they'd fall off the tracks.

H is trying to tell me otherwise. I simply don't believe him.

I am right aren't I?

I didn't know they are phasing out 125s Sad
I spent many happy a day in my childhood waving at them go by from the sea on the south coast.
I wanted to be the first female train driver. I was beaten to it

PotPlantAddict · 06/05/2017 19:23

I wish to advise you all of an event that has not occurred for a very long time in the history of rail travel.

Today I travelled on two trains operated by Southern, that were both on time.

BitchfaceBarclay · 06/05/2017 21:34

Blimey Saints! A flipping miracle!

Forallthesaints You must have been on the same southern rail services as me, for surely they could not have had more than 2 services run on time? Shock

iklboo · 06/05/2017 23:45

The Mallard is a thing of beauty.

Beeziekn33ze · 06/05/2017 23:53

Boysofmelody - Fascinating? Romantic? Oh yes they are!
I ❤️ 🦆!!

Beeziekn33ze · 06/05/2017 23:54

Iklboo - You ❤️ 🦆too?!

iklboo · 07/05/2017 09:27

Beezie - since I was an even ikler iklboo. My folks took me to York train museum and it was love at first sight. Especially when the guide bloke told us what she did.

Well my Dad would be proud, I knew everything on this thread already. Clearly him boring the tits off me for 30 years has had an effect.

AlpacaPicnic · 07/05/2017 09:54

I accidently flashed a stream train yesterday.

I'm also going on a cross-country train holiday across America soon...

TheNoodlesIncident · 07/05/2017 11:22

I doubt anything will ever beat Mallard's record now, since the only places still using steam engines will not be interested in setting new records...

We stood in Mallard's cab in the NRM. I may have got something in my eye that made me well up.

Ethylred · 07/05/2017 11:47

HoneySuckle, the important thing, the only thing that matters, is: have you passed this on to your DC? Your Dad told you all this stuff for a reason you know, and that reason did not include having it forgotten.

Ethylred · 07/05/2017 11:48

Btw OP, is your back better?

BitchfaceBarclay · 07/05/2017 12:58

Not really Ethyl. But thanks for thinking of it.

honeysucklejasmine · 07/05/2017 18:10

Ethyl she has a duplo train, if that counts? 😂

PickAChew · 07/05/2017 18:53

Haha! Well the steam engines at Tanfield certainly don't break any speed records! They're quite beautiful, though.
