Is this poem too cheesy?

Someone I deeply loved and relished has died recently and I would like to send a card with our condolences. I also would like to add a personal note and I found this little piece. Please tell me, is it too cheesy and inappropriate, I cannot decide. It speaks to me but maybe I'm just too sentimental because I am so sad.

If your soul were light, it'd be brighter than the sun.
If kindness were measured in gallons, it would fill an entire ocean.
You were one of a kind. The purest love and goodness met in one person. You are taking away with you a piece of heart of every person you met in your life.
Rest in peace.

I think you could say, 'this made me think of xxxxxx and how they touched everyone's lives/how special they were/how lucky I was to have known them'

Clandestino · 04/05/2017 13:57

Thank you, that's a really fair point, Francis and haze.

It is a lovely poem, I think you should use it, if it says what you want to say. I'm really sorry for your loss Flowers

Clandestino · 04/05/2017 14:11

Thank you so much.

Ditto - say it makes you think of your friend.

May your friend rest in peace xx

Oh I think its lovely. I appear to have something in my eye

It's lovely, when DP's father died a card his mum wrote said 'xx had sunshine in his personality so i'll always be glad the last time I saw him the sun was shining.' It was a really nice sentiment and very true.

Brittbugs80 · 04/05/2017 16:00

It's nice but not sure about sending it to family? Maybe you could write on the card that goes with the funeral flowers?

Fluffyears · 04/05/2017 16:00

Sorry a card his mums neighbour wrote.

Thank you all. I rephrased the poem but kept it as it reflects my feelings towards the person who passed away. Appreciate the feedback.
