Cars in for a service and they just rung to say they found a nail in my tyre. This is the 3rd time it's happened to me - the previous times were on my old car and looked deliberate - i.e. driven into the side wall of the tyre which is unlikely to happen accidentally..... (though this one is in the tread). 3 times in 4 years...

Has someone in my street got it in for me?

3 times in 4 years suggests that if someone does have it in for you, they aren't especially pro-active. Bad luck would be my guess.

Or the garage perhaps? Do you only find out about the nail when you take it in or do you spot them beforehand?

This latest one sounds like just bad luck.

I'm not sure if that was tongue-in-cheek Bert, but if the garage was a dodgy one, there are much more lucrative ways to get money from a customer. I guess they charge less than a tenner for plugging a tyre but removing the wheel, plugging, re-fitting and re-inflating take 20 mins at least.

Oh this is so annoying - something similar happened to me a few years ago, nails in my tyres about four times in the space of six months.

Turned out a mean-spirited resident near my work car park took exception to our using street parking as an overflow and started throwing nails around the place
