I know it's only May, but I'm looking to start xmas shopping, I'm wondering if there's anywhere, that you can pick a bunch of stuff and pay it weekly or monthly then receive the items once it's paid, I've a rubbish credit score because I was silly when I was younger but I think if there was anywhere like this I'd be a better option for me TIA XX

My friend buys gift cards on payday £30 for different shops each month all through the year then uses them to buy her Christmas gifts. Maybe buy ones for a certain store or live to shop vouchers which can be used in loads of places.

Why don't you try signing up to Park, you pay a set amount per month for shopping vouchers for a huge variety of shops which you get delivered to you in October. I'm paying about £20 per month so that I don't have to find the money all at once.

Sisinisawa · 02/05/2017 22:41

Just save the money up. That way your money is safe.

Alexandra87 · 02/05/2017 22:54

You can do this with park instead of getting vouchers at the end you can just pay off certain items. Studio do the same

Pollaidh · 02/05/2017 22:56

Problem with gift vouchers and some xmas savings things, is that they're not covered by financial guarantees, so if the company/shop goes bust you lose it all. That's what happened with Farepack, a few years back.

How about saving it into whichever savings account will give you the highest interest (around 2 - 4%, more if you can put it away for a certain period of time or don't make any withdrawals until the final one). Then you'll have more money at the end.

In the Christmas topic you'll find a thread where people discuss Christmas bargains. I think they pretty much get started on Boxing Day.

fannydaggerz · 02/05/2017 23:01

I've bought this early but my son had started playing with other things the closer we got to Xmas.

DoesHeWantToOrNot · 02/05/2017 23:18

I'm also using park. I put 40 a month in and I'll get 300 of vouchers in October. I'm useless at saving and this year I have a child I'll need to buy for including her birthday in november.

I didn't bother with anything for Xmas for her last year as she was only 6 weeks old.

TinselTwins · 02/05/2017 23:21

Get a 30 day access savings account, that way you won't dip into it until november. You don't need a good credit score to get a deposit account.

Pay now collect later is risky - the shop/company could close down

Like this one charitybank.org/ethical-savings/savings-account-1
set up a direct debit from your current account

TinselTwins · 02/05/2017 23:25

"Withdrawals: Send us a signed letter to withdraw your money and you’ll receive it at the end of your chosen notice period."

^ see! difficult to dip into, so the temptation isn't there Smile
