Gah.

They are the most demanding in their requirements.

Could someone please suggest to me a way to enhance my usual internet password (which goes number letter letter letter number number number letter) to meet the MN criteria?

Then at least if I forget it again I can search for myself on this thread and remind myself of my password!

Thanking you kindly Flowers

I can't remember mine either. There doesn't seem to be an option for them to email a new one to you, does there?

Peanutandphoenix · 02/05/2017 19:53

I had to create a whole new password because I completely forgot what it was.

MrTumblesbitch · 02/05/2017 19:55

Bloody Jeffrey. I can only log in via fb now, I out securitied myself by setting up a mumsnet only email account too, and I can't remember the password to that either!

stuckinthehouse · 02/05/2017 19:57

Keep your usual password and add a 1 on the end?

stuckinthehouse · 02/05/2017 19:57

Or 11 to make it ten-digit.

Charley50 · 02/05/2017 19:57

Same problem here! I never log out on my phone, and never log in on a computer, cuz the password thing is such a kerfuffle.

SaucyJack · 02/05/2017 19:58

I changed my usualpassword to 1UsualPassword2.

selfishmommy · 02/05/2017 19:58

Usually an exclamation mark is useful, but I can't remember the rules for mumsnet. Every time I want to change my user name I have to bloody reset password.

OneDayIWillBeOrganised · 02/05/2017 20:01

Just reset my password and this is the first post I saw when I logged on!
At least I'm not alone Grin

SwedishEdith · 02/05/2017 20:04

Me too re mn email account with equally non-memorable password. Doomed to have this name forever.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 02/05/2017 20:15

Right, I'm going in, let's see how long it takes.

Ok, so I had a guess at my password, which failed.

No option to click "forgotten your password?" like you usually get.

Wtf do I do now?

OP posts:
ButtonLoon · 02/05/2017 20:21

My password is "name of a guy I really hate"* + is + an expletive + a couple of numbers.

I never forget it. Grin

*not Jeffrey

sashh · 02/05/2017 20:28

I find it useful to start with an address, not your own.

So you could have 10DowningSt, then if it asks for a symbol or for it to be longer just add to it.

Then you can write reminders that help, such as 'MN add !', I then email the reminder to myself.

Obviously you have to remember the address and 10 Downing St would not be ideal.

CassandraAusten · 02/05/2017 20:36

I use a website called Last Pass which generates passwords and stores them for me.

I don't know what mine is because I only use my phone and am always just logged in!
I make different passwords for most things and they tend to be whatever I was thinking of that particular day which is never helpful!

LurkingHusband · 02/05/2017 21:21

+1 for Lastpass (a password manager)

Some feel uneasy about the security implications of using it, but it allows you to generate unique gibberish passwords when you sign up which far outweighs the risks of a site hack revealing an oft-used password, IMHO.
