Wearing navy to a funeral

Can I wear navy to a funeral or is it not a done thing close family members funeral

I wore a smart grey dress to my sisters funeral. Believe me there were plenty there who you'd think were nipping to the supermarket or a club. As long as you look tidy and respectful I think you're fine. Sorry for your loss

I think smart navy is fine

As a Funeral Director with plenty of experience in funereal sartorial dilemmas...navy is fine. As pp has said as long as it's smart, clean and appropriate...it is acceptable. I think navy/grey/dark muted colours are all ok nowadays. Suggest flats if it's a burial, if that makes a difference.

Navy will be fine. My DM wore navy recently to her DF funeral and the suit my DH wore was dark grey.

Definitely yes to navy. My dad wore a navy suit to his MIL's funeral. I refused to dress my 18mo in black (no black top or dress and couldn't afford a new one) and put her in dark blue but not quite navy. My mum (it was her mum's funeral) had no qualms about it and wanted me and my sis in some thing we were both comfortable in. Clean and respectable is what matters. IMO anyway.

Yes. I wore dark purple to my dads and black with white polka dots to my mums.

My 'funeral dress' is navy with small muted cream and pink flowers and a navy blazer.
