To think it's really hard to meet people?

I split up with my long term partner just over a year ago and thus far I've had a very bad series of dates with one man and a disappointing ONS.

I'm starting to get really fed up, everyday I try to make an effort and hope that I'll meet someone nice, I go out often, socialise at work and I'm always meeting new people. But nobody seems interested. I'm not being outwardly self pitying, but I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. It doesn't help that I was in a relationship since 17 when meeting partners seemed simpler then (26 now)

AIBU to think it's not as simple as "someone will come along" - i keep trying to talk to friends about my situation but always get this response.

I think nowadays pretty much everyone relies on OLD. I was at a gig a few weeks ago and there was a man there that was hot. I kept looking at him, he kept looking at me, but neither of us actually made the move to speak to each other, it's like that's become much more difficult somehow. With tinder or whatever at least there's no beating around the bush!

@WildBelle that's the thing! Sometimes I meet people but it's almost taboo to say "do you fancy a drink" as nobody acts as if they're looking to date
