To ask about prams and small cars?

Recently had my car written off by a driver hitting me from behind. I'm having a lot of trouble finding a replacement. I'm short and feel uncomfortable in big cars but can't have something too tiny as I need to fit a pram in.

What do you drive that's not big but fits a pram? Also does anyone drive a Toyota aygo and fit any kind of pram in it? I'd love one but dh maintains its too small and is probably right.

Fiat 500 is small and so cute and it fits a pram. So does the VW Fox or Polo - but given their emissions cheating you may want to buy elsewhere!

Mind you, it depends what kind of pram you have and if it collapses compactly

Until recently I had a corsa. The newer ones are bigger than the really tiny old ones and I managed to get my enormous britax affinity in the boot. Couldn't get anything else in it though! Car seat fitted in ok too. I drive a zafira now and although it looks big it doesn't feel it to drive. My OH has a 206 which has a surprisingly big boot and looks like a little bubble, nice to drive too.

Depends how much else you want to fit in as well as a pram.

Things like the armadillo flip fold small. I wouldn't get an Aygo they are tiny. What about a Hyundai i10? Or a Yaris?

I'm short but still manage to comfortably drive our SUV type car, I just pump the seat up and adjust the steering wheel. We easily fill the boot when we go on holiday.

I have a Nissan Micra that fits quite a bulky pram in the boot but I had to take the shelf out and stand it upright.

Definitely agree car seat may be the bigger problem, especially if DC is still rear facing. Can't get an adult in my front passenger seat because of the car seat behind. Regular McLaren buggy fits fine in boot though.

I bought a Stokke Xplory when I was expecting DS2 and only realised after it had arrived that it didn't fit into the boot of my Fiat. Bought a Nissan Juke and the bloody thing didn't fit into the boot of that, either. Take the pram to the garage and double-check it definitely fits.

We've got a 308. Could get a collapsible pram in there and an erf seat in the back

Seat Ibiza fitted all we needed in...although not room for much else if going away for the weekend or lots of shopping.

I used to have a Fiat 500C with a tiny boot. I could still fit an oyster system and some shopping in it!

I've got a VW Golf. It feels small to drive (I had a 2005 Fiesta before, the Golf is bigger but doesn't feel it when driving or even when parking), but DS's Jane Rider fit into the boot with room for a couple of bags of shopping. DP used to drive an Audi A3 - that felt larger but was manageable - but now he has a Volvo XC60, and that's way too big to feel comfortable for me.

I drive a Honda Civic and it comfortably fits big prams, mainly because it doesn't carry a spare tyre in the boot (just have an AA membership!). It's not a small car, mainly a medium sized hatchback, but can recommend them for a good family size all round.

Fiesta and an armadillo xt work for us. We have a hauck ERF and yes the front passenger seat cant be fully back but not so knees are on the dashboard

VW Polo and bugaboo cam 3- fits in fine if we take one wheel off. We seldom drive though!

We have a Kia Venga which fits our bugaboo Bee in the boot with room to spare. You might struggle if your pram is a massive tank-style one though.

I have a Toyota yaris, but the older one, so maybe more similar to the aygo now (!?) And could fit my pram in the boot and my car seat in the back without any issues. Even fit a double pram in the boot! Smaller cars quite often have a better shape boot so can fit in more than you would think. I can now (just) fit 2 kids bikes in the boot whereas I can't get 1 in the bigger cars boot!

Toyota aygo fitted my graco pram but not an umbrella fold.

I now have a Yaris which seems massive in comparison!

Have loved both cars. Both a dream to drive and park!

You take out the shelf and put the pram on its side.

I had a Nissan Micra and recently exchanged for a Kia Ceed, as the Micra wouldn't be big enough for a pram, two children in car seats (one an infant carrier and one a 7 year old in a booster) plus shopping etc.

I found it strange getting used to a bigger car but now it's a breeze.

The Kia Rio is slightly smaller than the Ceed, probably along the same size as a new Corsa or Clio. The new shape Micra that has just been released seems to be if a similar shape and size to the Corsa and Clio.

When DS was little I car shared with my mum in a Fiat Punto and that fitted a pram and infant car seat with ease. My dad and sister both drive the Hyundai i20 and they look as though they should have room.

I have an older Clio, it's like a Tardis. Can easily fit a pram, shopping and a scooter in the boot.

My cousin drives a Fiat Panda and we could easily fit the Maclaren in there... yet the same buggy wouldn't fit in my FiL's Volvo... yet my "enormous" Stokke Xplory fit in the Volvo fine. It was bizarre! You definitely need to check and put your pram into the car you want to buy.

I had a toyota aygo and fit a quinny. I had to take the quinny wheels out, but it fit. Just.

When DD was born, DH drove a 3d Yaris, it was a faff to put the car seat in but manageable. No problem with the boot. When we bought my car, we took the pram to the dealer and made sure it fitted. I still drive the same a Fiat Panda.

Re car seats, I think I remember that the manufacturers had a compatibility list on their website, might be worth a check.

Thanks all. I had a Micra and while I loved it, it was a bit small and it felt like there wasn't much between the impact and my baby. So it's an impossible ask really, small car, massive boot.

I think I will have to consider a bigger car and just work at getting use to it. Dh drives a much bigger car and I manage in that when I have to.

Yes, booster seat for ds and rear facing for dd.

I have a C3. Have been on holidays with DH, DD (2.9) and a large collie dog in it since she was born. Now shes older DH wants me to get a bigger car even though the amount of stuff we need for DD is much less

He can eff off. I love a nippy small car.
