To be worrying that whole family has a cold?

DD1 has an tonsil-adenoidectomy and grommet insertion operation on Thursday, with pre-op assessment on Tuesday. All the hospital leaflets mention coughs and colds as a potential problem. So of course the whole family has come down with a mucousy cough and snotty noses. No-one is feverish and we are all carrying on as normal so it isn't a bad one.

AIBU to be anxious that the op will be postponed? We have been waiting for months. Anyone experienced this or have tips for getting us healthy by Tuesday!?

colds can't really be avoided in that respect, and it's possible dd might have already had that particular cold previously there's no way of knowing.
just try to carry on as normal regardless and good luck for thursday Flowers

So what happens if she is still coughing and snotty on Thursday? How severe would the cold have to be for the operation to be postponed?

I am listening to her snoring, choking etc and I just can't wait for her to get a good night's sleep Sad

there is a risk for the cold getting worse due to the stress of the operation. mention it in the pre-op consultation even if she's well again.

Dd was worried cos she had a sore throat for an op but her temperature was within the guidelines and it went ahead.

Update in case anyone stumbles across this with the same concern: coughs/colds are so frequent in children with tonsil problems that they would never go ahead if they waited for them to clear! So we are good to go. If the cough had been a bacterial infection needing antibiotics that would have been different.
