Journos trolling for stories

Msqueen33 · 27/04/2017 11:30

To think newspapers could at least try and find their own stories and not literally cut and paste direct from mumsnet?!

Slow news day!

user1466690252 · 27/04/2017 11:34

I cant see the link, what story is it

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/04/2017 11:34

There's clearly nothing else going on in the world

Msqueen33 · 27/04/2017 11:38

It's about someone who got an invite to a friends party and they wanted to charge £20 to get in.

Honestly have they nothing better to do.

Meh. They need to fill up their little subsections with something.

No different to a Take a Break type thing really.

cafenoirbiscuit · 27/04/2017 11:43

Let's make up a scurrilous story!

I wonder whether some of the threads they report on they've actually started themselves. If you can't find anything interesting to report on, why not make it up...

HappyFlappy · 27/04/2017 11:47

That's uninteresting idea Overthehill. It would explain some of the very suspicious threads that are about - and it's awful, because there are people out there who really need support in some areas of their lives whose threads may be missed because of some lazy journalistic troll.

Mumsnet HQ clearly endorse the publicity!Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2017 12:03

It's always been the way. If you don't want it in the paper don't post it on the internet. Simple.

The more threads that appear in the press the more clicks MN gets and the advertisers on MN like that. MN is a business.

FritzDonovan · 27/04/2017 12:14

I never recognise the threads that make it to the papers! I'm obviously not reading the right ones. Would love to know the top reported threads Grin

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2017 12:18

Mostly ones that make Mumsnetters look like a weird bunch. Bizarre situations that are probably made up. That sort of stuff.

WorraLiberty · 27/04/2017 12:24

They're a clever bunch though.

They know when they do this, their readers are likely to do what the OP has done and link to it on the thread, thus giving them more hits and earning more advertising revenue.

Win-win really.

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2017 12:33

V true. Plus loads of threads are posted on the MN FB page which is much the same really.
