Dog poo-would you be annoyed?

I work in an English language after school programme (not in the UK). Today one of my students (aged 5) came in with dirty shoes, having stood in dog poo in the playground.

I told him to take the shoes off and put them outside the door of the school (it's a tiny building and my classroom is right beside the door). I thought this was fairly reasonable, so he wasn't trailing poo all over the classroom. I'm not going to leave the class unattended to clean a student's shoes and I wasn't going to send a 5 year old to do it themseves and risk having them end up getting it in their eye etc.

Anyway, without rambling too much, dad came to pick up his child, and didn't say anything to me, just grunted and started cleaning the shoes. Then as we were standing there with all the children/parent, he started mumbling to the other parents about how I'm just standing there doing nothing while he has to come from work and clean up poo. Also mumbling about how the shoes could have been stolen from the doorway Confused.

AIBU to think wtf??

Yanbu, you're not there o clean shit off shoes!!

MistyMinge · 21/04/2017 21:10

Yanbu - he is totally out of order. No way should you be expected to clean dog shit off his child's shoes. It's totally disrespectful that he even thought you should.

Our school used to bag them and change kids into their daps.

I'd be talking to the school about the dog poo in the playground and what their regulations are about dogs/poo bags/bins. And asking the school to put up a big notice re health/stink issue with dog poo. I can only think this is France?
