To eat my DS's chocolate eggs?

He's 3, doesn't have chocolate much at all ordinarily. He's had chocolate hunt at nursery, and I've had to bribe him with giant buttons to take his antibiotics. I foresee the eggs sitting in the cupboard for months, and it's been a really difficult week. Would you judge me for eating them? They were from family members who know i don't give him chocolate and who were told i didn't want to do eggs...

Do it. We've 'helped' the kids out with theirs. There's no way they can eat that much chocolate. But I can...

Er why do you get chocolate and he doesnt. Bung them in baking so you can both enjoy. Then if theres loads just hand out any surplus baking. I wouldnt judge if one sneaked into your lap and you gobbled it.

Nope. I secretly gave several to the food bank this week; the DCs will never know. I also gave one to the bank of Whoooo's Belly and it was delicious.

We've eaten most of my DS eggs. He's 9 months old. I've no idea why everyone got him one.

I'd say that was one bonus of having a toddler who gets a lot of eggs at Easter. Enjoy!

I would. No one else needs to know. You are protecting your child from sugar overload and I'm sure he gets enough sweets....that's what I tell myself as I'm sinking my teeth into them.

We also give them to the food bank if we get too many.

One year the kids got more than 20 eggs each.

Interesting since mentioning that the food bank benefits so heavily the prime offender has seriously reduced the number of chocolate eggs.

There's only 2, to be fair, and they're small ones. I'm sure it doesn't help that I didn't get any this year, but he's started going in the cupboards and was bound to start bugging me about them sooner rather than later.

You've convinced me - although I'll save the pack of Freddos faces as treats for him ;)

YANBU, the first year my toddler got Easter eggs he wasn't even 1 yet, I didn't want him having more than a little nibble of chocolate but I still felt guilty for eating his eggs. Now he's 3 and each year I feel less guilty for "helping him" eat them although I still feel a bit mean!

Surely it's in their best interests though... think of the tooth decay and unhealthy sugar levels we're rescuing them from by eating their chocolate

A lot of the joy for toddlers is in the excitement of finding them and receiving them to begin with anyway, I don't think toddlers keep much track of how much chocolate they actually got to consume.

To be fair my kids are 9yo so they agree to and participate in choosing which eggs are donated, we aren't whipping them out from under their noses.

Another idea is to melt them down and use them for baking which is a nice rainy day activity at this time of year.

I used to feel bad about donating them (as clearly it wasn't the intention of the people buying them) but after polite persuasion failed and we ended up with nearly 50 eggs between four of us one year I was so appalled at the waste that it overcame any lingering guilt.

Still haven't found a successful way to cut down excessive Christmas presents though.

For goodness sakes. The OP said he's already had loads of chocolate and he's 3 years old - he's not going to be able to eat it all anyway.

Someone gave my 3 year old son a lindt chocolate egg! Massive red box with a big egg and lindt wrapped chocolates at the top!! Needless to say I scoffed it guilt free over the past week but I did leave him the other eggs he got!

I ate my sons. He's 8 months and lactose intolerant. I was doing him a favour. Eat them, he'll survive
