As the armada appears in waters nowhere near where it was said to be, Trump blusters on in his usual dignified, courtly manner. Easter weekend had us worried about nuclear strikes; DT put a fair bit of work into his golf swing. Business as usual! Carry on, everyone!

If North Korea does a nuclear test, what will the US response be? I sense 45 is trying to shift the hard stuff to China. Will he blame China and use it as an excuse to rattle sabers at them?

I am due to go to Japan from May 10 to 14. Am really reconsidering it - partly the geopolitics, partly domestic and economic considerations.

I may be donning my tinfoil hat here, but could the Wikileaks/Assange charges have more to do with Trump's regime wanting to throttle the Free Press? Indict Assange, link him to the NYT and other media outlets and BAM, put those outlets out of business?

Saffron, I think he's done so much chest-thumping already that if he didn't respond in a military fashion he'd lose face. I also think he's looking for an excuse to take action against NK; not least for the pressure this would put on China, greasing the wheels for trade deals. It will happen - it's just the scale that's in question really IMO.
