To think DP shouldn't ask me to pick him up from the station

I got up to do school lunches etc this morning at 7.30 & started work about 7.50 (work from home). DP eventually shuffled down about 9 (not working today).
He had a appointment in London - about a hour and half train journey. To make his underground journey easier I drove him 20 mins where he could get a train into a more convenient mainline station. Our train station is less than a five minute walk from our house & actually only adds 10 minutes onto his underground journey. He was going to stay up in town this evening.
He has now decided he wants to come home. He has now asked if I can pick him up at 9.15 to make his journey easier - he texted this as he was sitting in the sunshine drinking his Cortado.
AIBU to think he should suck the extra 10 min underground journey & not even ask me drive 20 mins to make 'his journey easier".
I don't even finish work until 7 !

If it inconveniences you more than it helps him then it's not a fair thing to ask. If it was five minutes out of your way on a journey that you would already be doing, and it knocked an hour off his journey then fair enough. But in the circumstances you describe, I'd be telling him to grow up.

Just say no because you'll be with the kids/washing your hair/in the bath etc etc

I'm quite adept at having selective hearing/seeing of texts for things I don't want to do...

And if he rings just say that whilst it might be convenient for him it's very inconvenient for you.

Yeah if he can get a train back to yours then he should do that, you have enough on your plate - response - sorry can't do it this time - see you later and if you want to get a dig in say "enjoy your beer"

Say no you can't. Unfair for you to be inconvenienced loads more than the hassle it saves him.

It's fine to ask but also fine to say no.

He's not unreasonable to ask, but he would be unreasonable to ask on the condition that the only answer is yes.

Only you know if he's asking with an expectation of a "yes" or if he's just asking and is more than happy to accept the no and get the train home anyway, OP
