Noisy neighbours driving me insane!

Their water pipes must be directly behind my headboard. All I hear is constant water gushing. Whilst writing this it's gone off twice.

Afaik it's a couple who live there .. so how they can shower, flush the toilet, wash their hands every 10 minutes is beyond me.

It constantly wakes me up. Aibu to complain? I feel I might be given what makes the noise .., but it's so ridiculously excessive.

I don't honestly think you can count this as 'noisy neighbours'. People have to use water, they can't help that the pipes are where you choose to put your bed. Sorry.

Like I said though it's excessive .. to the point where you hear the gush of water every 10 minutes. I don't get what they are doing to be constantly using water

Like it's just gone off again now ... that's 3 times in 10 minutes.

Oh OP I feel your pain. In my old flat the wall behind my bed was shared with NDN's bathroom and she was a crazy older lady who would take baths at 5am even on sundays and the running water in the bath followed by her splashing around in there like a dying whale woke me up every time. I tried talking to her about it, calling council, anything I could think of to no avail. Eventually moved the bed into the living room before I moved completely.

Is it regular as in it happens every xx minutes to the exact minute? We had a new boiler fitted and because of how they had to configure the pipes they also had to fit a pump. The pump goes off at regular intervals to move the water through (it's more technical than that but that was the gist of it). It could be that they have some sort of pump on the opposite side of the wall and they aren't aware that it's disturbing you.

Could you reverse the layout of your bedroom and put your bed against the opposite wall?

That did make me laugh

They wake me up early too, but thankfully not at 5am.

Maybe I should contact the council ... I don't know.

I think you'll just have to investigate the cost of soundproofing.

No it's not to the exact minute regular. I've been up working until 2am sometimes and heard nothing. Then 6am arrives and they're awake (can hear them banging around) and then comes the water (JUST GONE OFF AGAIN!)

And again ... 6 times in 15 minutes ... surely that's not normal. No one uses their toilet or washes their hands that often ...

The only place I could move it is the opposite wall and I have a tv hung on that wall and when I moved in I had it decorated so it's wallpapered on the bed wall. I'd still hear it regardless, it's pretty loud.

Heating will switch itself on/off to regulate temp though. It may be set on a timer too to come on certain times of the day.

You really can't complain, as annoying as I am sure it is, im afraid you are BU to complain.
Can you move your bed?

Sounds like a pump to me too. It'll be quiet in the small hours because the heating/hot water won't be on then it kicks back on when they switch it on (or the timer if they've got it on a timer).

There's not reply anything you can do if it is the boiler, it's not an intentional noise that they're making and not something they can get rid of.

Our boiler takes a long time to 'cool' down. Especially during winter when heating, and hot water, are turned on. If I have been washing up late in the evening, I will sometimes wake up at 1-2am and still hear it. It's also pretty loud, but doesn't back on to any neighbours walls thankfully. I'm sure they still hear it, though I can imagine not loudly. I've been told it's an old boiler, and it's pretty common. I have to turn off the function of heating, or hot water, at the boiler when not in use otherwise we would hear the noise all day. Sometimes we actually have to turn the boiler completely off.. So possibly that's the problem? Sadly not much can be down if that's the case.
