If i wanted half sugar orange juice with a dash of squash added I would make it myself. Ghastly stuff with added flavourings!

Nope. I once ordered some tomato ketchup. They sent me a packet of cherry tomatoes. Even the delivery driver laughed at that one.

Apparently, even if one word in the name is similar, the computer will choose that one as a substitution.

I got Paxo Sage and Onion Stuffing instead of a pot of fresh sage

I got lemon washing up liquid instead of fresh lemons!

At least you could use the paxo and washing up liquid!

I got some beef and stilton sandwiches instead of tear-and-share bread!

Pack of always ultra ordered. Got a year's supply of tampons instead (literally the largest pack they sold).

This is why (for example) Ocado sales have gone down. People are fed up of supermarkets ripping customers off and treating them like idiots, knowing they just put any old crap in and it's too much hassle to get it changed.

I love Ocado, all my subs have been spot on and they have brilliant friendly drivers Sainsbury, Tesco and all the others have been dismal

Trop50 is disgusting. I once got false teeth cleaner instead of Berocca. Was in hospital after having DD so DH just put it away .

I shop with Ocado every week and have not had a single substitution so far this year, when they do substitute it is always something very similar to the item I ordered

When I used to use Sainsbury's that was a different matter. Ordered gelatine for a cake, got a pack of jellytots!

That's why I put for example in brackets.

My point was that customers in general are getting disenchanted because substitutions are a cynical way for supermarkets to flog stuff people wouldn't dream of buying. Maybe poor old Ocado are 'taking the hit' because the bad supermarkets give online grocery shopping a bad reputation.
