Surely this cannot be a thing? No human in their right mind really consciously goes through this thought process?

Read the term 'negging' on another thread and this was amongst the google results

www.seductionscience.com/2010/negging-women/

Seriously?

Good grief! I hope any 'hot girls' he tries this on have the sense to tell him to fuck off.

floraeasy · 01/04/2017 12:58

Oh yes, negging is a thing.

It seems to work on some girls, unfortunately.

Rescuepuppydaft2 · 01/04/2017 13:26

I have no words...........their Mother's must be so proud

PlayOnWurtz · 01/04/2017 13:34

Link isn't working for me. What does it mean?

Finola1step · 01/04/2017 13:35

Negging?

DixieFlatline · 01/04/2017 13:37

This has been around for ages and seems to be used much more widely than just people who are actively into PUA now. It has spread like a disease.

Seems like a good way to stay single!

CommonSenseIsNotAllThatCommon · 01/04/2017 13:44

It's basically a new term for an abusive loser.

Neverknowing · 01/04/2017 13:44

Wtaf?!? This is so disgusting and degrading. This is that fucking entitled view that women are yours for the taking. Fuck this is gross Angry

akwan · 01/04/2017 13:45

Jesus that's green

akwan · 01/04/2017 13:46

Obsidian77 · 01/04/2017 13:48

It's been around for a while. It worries me because it seems to entrench misogynistic behaviours in men who struggled anyway to connect with women as human beings.

Sweets101 · 01/04/2017 13:48

An example of Negging a girl would be:
"You are nearly as tall as me. I like tall girls (LIFT). Are those heels 4 or 5 inches (DROP)?"
OR
You say, "Ahhh, that's so funny ... you nose moves when you speak...... (pointing and being cute) look there it goes again ... its so... quaint ... haha look"
She'll say, "ahhh, stoppp!"blush.
Now she is self conscious and having her in this state is where you want her. You have neghit her.

I wouldn't even register either of those comments as negative, boring and dull but not negative. If someone said you are nearly as tall as me how high are your heals 4 or 5 inches, I'd think they were a bit thick immediately contradicting themselves like that.

Sweets101 · 01/04/2017 13:48

Ahh bold fail!

picklemepopcorn · 01/04/2017 13:50

It's a sophisticated version of 'treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen'. Basically, they end up working hard to gain your approval.

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 01/04/2017 13:52

Unfortunately it is a thing...sometimes it's so low-key it might not be instantly recognisable.

Bisquitine · 01/04/2017 13:54

Just asked 21yr old DS, he's never heard of it.

ComedyofTerrors · 01/04/2017 13:59

One of the replies called him a sad boring wanker, I couldn't have put it better.

It is a thing unfortunately some do it so well you won't recognise the comment as negative

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 01/04/2017 14:31

Bloody hell, what an unpleasant thing to do. Angry

Doublevodkaredbull · 01/04/2017 14:48

It's a real thing. I see lads do it every Saturday night when I'm at work. The cockier groups will even try it on me when I'm serving them drinks.

I have a "no manners, no alcohol" rule so they don't get very far.
