Doctors for this, or A and E or 111, or wait?

NC as identifying.

I slipped down 15 ft of concrete steps this morning. My thigh and arse are bruised, my ribs on one side are bruised and my arm has a tiny bruise on the elbow on the same side - tiny bit of swelling in that elbow.

Really hurt when I did it, lay there like a fanny for about ten minutes. Sat up, threw up felt better, got on with my day.

The hand below the slightly bruised elbow is really cold now though. The hand itself isn't sore or swollen. Bit of pain further up arm (elbow area and just above). Have full range of movement.

AIBU to just wait and see how it feels tomorrow morning knowing only option will be A and E, or should I get it checked out this afternoon? Live very rurally so no walk in centres over weekend.

Sorry know some posters hate these type of threads, but literally not sure what I should do. Have had ice and elevation with it all morning so far.

You had a big fall. Get checked out.

PatMullins · 31/03/2017 14:05

You've had an accident, get seen!

PatMullins · 31/03/2017 14:06

Almost identical xpost there HeyRoly Grin

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 31/03/2017 14:06

If you threw up are you sure you didn't suffer a concussion?

CigarsofthePharoahs · 31/03/2017 14:06

I agree with HeyRoly. It sounds like a nasty fall, better be safe than sorry!

BillSykesDog · 31/03/2017 14:06

Have you got a minor injuries unit locally?

MrsStinkey · 31/03/2017 14:09

If you threw up I'd be inclined to get checked over today. Better safe than sorry.

TroysMammy · 31/03/2017 14:09

Accident and Emergency. You've had an accident so it's appropriate to go there.

lucyandpoppy123 · 31/03/2017 14:09

Maybe dumb question but - it cold because of the ice?

I would try and get an emergency GP app or walk in today rather than wait until tomorrow where A&E is only option.

Sounds like a big fall especially if you were sick after! So def get checked out today

notangelinajolie · 31/03/2017 14:09

I was going to suggest minor injuries unit. It our go to place for possible broken bones but I see you aren't near to one. I'd call 111 and let them tell you what you should do.

slipperyed · 31/03/2017 14:12

Thank you all - I wasn't aware of minor injuries unit - I just looked at the NHS website and there's one 20 miles from us, which is closer than the A and E unit I was thinking of. Will find a lift to get there.

No concussion - I put my hands around my head hence my elbow sticking out. One step was wet and I just slipped and my legs went from under me. I was running.

Is your hand otherwise fully functional? Can you use it? Is your sense of touch unimpaired? Have you lost any strength in it?

slipperyed · 31/03/2017 14:20

Heratnumber7 Yes - it's fine - can move, can feel, no lost strength, it's just really cold. It's normal colour and looks exactly like my other hand.

I would get checked out as it sounds a nasty small. It could be cold because you're subconsciously holding it stiller than usual.

DipsyLaLa22 · 31/03/2017 14:28

Minor injury unit?

GlitteryFluff · 31/03/2017 14:29

Hope all is ok when you're seen at minor injuries.

gamerchick · 31/03/2017 14:30

Sounds like you're fine to me. I personally wouldn't if everything moved and looked fine.
