To set up a pta without knowing anything about

More of a "am I being insane" but I'm thinking about setting up a school pta, I have no experience of this whatsoever. Aibu to think I can do it successfully without any experience? Any tips?

Have you gauged opinion from others?
Is there support for the idea, people to help?
Has there been a PTA before or is this new for the school?
