My one year old DS was/is breastfed and used to regulating his own appetite so when weaning him, I've always kept giving him food until he has had enough.
We have a problem as nursery portion food on a plate and seconds aren't an option. They don't allow snacks even if I send them in, although at home he doesn't snack at all, just eats three really good meals a day.
He's chunky but on the same centile for height and weight and has been on the same centile for months.
What do you do with your one year old? Do you give set portions or let them decide?
At what age do I need to think about portion control? I have two medical conditions that I have to manage that mean I'm confident I understand balanced nutrition, but I have no idea on portions. The guidance leaflet on portions for one year olds shows portions about half the size that my DS would eat.
Will any of you share a typical food day for your one year old?
If it makes a difference, he is mega active and a big climber. Doesn't sit still for a minute.
Thanks!
