Kylie Jenner's new blusher range

Edsheeranalbumparty · 24/03/2017 13:58

So on the back of her very successful 'Lip Kits' (which are basically a lip liner and lipstick but anyway) Ms Jenner is releasing a new line of blushers.

Some of the product names featured include:
Hot and Bothered
X Rated
Virginity
And i shit you not: Barely Legal

I'm not being a pearl clutcher here am I? This is really gross? I know she isn't the first to come up with 'controversial' names for makeup products, and obviously the fact that everyone is talking about it means she has got exactly what she needs.

But really? Barely Legal? REALLY?!

Very strange names Hmm

Blerg · 24/03/2017 14:12

That's grim.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 24/03/2017 14:13

I'm not anti Kardashian/Jenner at all, but I'm pretty appalled at those names. They know who their target market is, but they've done it anyway.

Blinkybell · 24/03/2017 14:15

The Jenners/Kardashians pass me by, but those names are pretty grim

But then I refused to buy 15 year old DD a Soap and Glory lip thing because it was called Sexy Mother Plucker

Blinkybell · 24/03/2017 14:16

Sorry, Sexy Mother Pucker

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 24/03/2017 14:23

op I don't think you are being U, or pearl clutcher, considering their target audience.

However, I'm sorry Blinky but that is ridiculous!
She's 15 ffs, I heard proper swearinglike that by the time I was 12!
Unless she's got SN, or is home schooled and never meets other teens, she will have heard, and said, so so much worse!

It's a funny pun on a common swear, if she was 10, then maybe, but 15??! Se can have legal sex next year!

Blinkybell · 24/03/2017 14:24

She could buy it with her own money if she wanted to

But I wasn't going to

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 24/03/2017 14:28

But why?
I get that names like "barely legal" and "virginity" are disturbing, because it's v sexual and 11 year olds will buy them.

But refusing to buy a 15yr old something because it's called "Mother Pucker" is just silly.

Do you think she doesn't swear?
Does she not listen to music with mother fucker as a lyric, because rightly or wrongly, it's in nearly every chart song?

I just don't understand your issue?

LittleGwyneth · 24/03/2017 14:29

I reckon Virginity is worse.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 24/03/2017 14:33

Yeah the clear connotations between a target audience/market of barely- teens, and names like barely legal/ virginity are, well, dubious at best.
Especially when you consider what lipstick is and why it's considered "sexy" (I don't wear it btw, hate the stuff, but each to their own!)

It makes me uncomfortable, and I am def no prude!

Edsheeranalbumparty · 24/03/2017 14:40

It's not even the target market thing that gets me the most, there are plenty of much older women who buy the Kylie products as well.

It's just so objectifying and pornified. It's why i don't mind 'Orgasm' as a name for a blusher (although it's a bit attention seeking) but i really hate 'Deep Throat'. It's all so closely associated with women being like nothing more than a hole for male pleasure. And it's used to flog the stuff that women often feel like they have to wear and men don't.

Edsheeranalbumparty · 24/03/2017 14:42

Sexy Mother Pucker is pretty tame in comparison i think!

AllllGooone · 24/03/2017 14:42

Ugh, that's vile

CaoNiMartacus · 24/03/2017 14:44

When I have my tin-foil hat on, I often wonder if there is some agenda within commercial culture to weaken the notions and parameters of consent.

AllllGooone · 24/03/2017 14:46

blinky I wasn't allowed that ether at 15! I had a job, but my mum was just like "nah that's vile, don't do that" Grin
Same for god awful fcuk stuff.

I think I'd rather they say "fuck" or "sexy motherfucker" than be all "wink wink! So coy"

AllllGooone · 24/03/2017 14:47

Me too cao

Ampersand22 · 24/03/2017 15:01

Cao I think the same too. Media trying to normalise the sexualisation of children.

Pizzagate is real.

DonaldStott · 24/03/2017 15:08

It's vile and fucking depressing. I really despair for young girls today. Sex is shoved down their throats on a daily basis. You can see it when young girls are wearing face fulls of make up and provocative clothing, trying to look older.

I'm no pearl clutcher, but it is sad.

kali110 · 24/03/2017 17:35

Can't say i've never noticed the names on makeup, ever.
It's from the kardashians, i'd expect something like this.
Really, the soap and glory line?
My mother's very straight laced yet never batted an eye at buying it for me.

Elendon · 24/03/2017 18:14

I reckon it'll go down a storm in Utah. And all of the other fly by states. where anal sex means you keep your virginity

Seriously, the show was predicated on sleaze and the products are sleaze too.

She will make a lot of money from this.

foxyloxy78 · 25/03/2017 22:26

Gross names but pretty typical thing to come out if that family, so not surprised. Hmm

PaulAnkaTheDog · 25/03/2017 22:32

Grim as fuck.

KathArtic · 25/03/2017 23:11

Ed can you add some capitals to your name as all I can see is 'anal bum party'

MitzyLeFrouf · 25/03/2017 23:20

'Puzzagate is real.'

Anyone who believes pizzagate is real is an utter idiot.

That aside yes OP the names are grim as fuck. How old is Kylie, about 20? 'Barely legal' and 'virginity' sound like names dreamt up by some sweaty middle aged man. Bleurgh.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 25/03/2017 23:30

Kath, I think that is the point!
