For those children who will be moving up to secondary school this September, or September 2018, or September 2019 for example, are they going to miss the chance to apply for one of these schools?
For clarification purposes also, I've not gathered my thoughts on whether or not I approve of the idea, or whether I would put my own children through such a thing as a selection process based on someone else's opinion of what makes a bright child.
I am, however, concerned that the current cohort of 9, 10, 11, and 12 year olds, all of whom are inestimably bright, may forgo the opportunity (if indeed it can be described as such) simply because of their demography, and will find themselves in 15 years' time, in workplaces full of very slightly younger people who consider themselves better than them because they went to grammar school.
