Applying for a job after closing date

Hopeinhell2017 · 05/03/2017 21:26

Saw a job I would be perfect for.

Sorted out my CV and applied the next day.

It said it was now closed for applications Angry

I have emailed the company direct...Do I have any chance?

Depends on the job and the number of candidates. I've let it slide for the right person before. They did get in touch to explain they'd only just started their job search. Good luck!

I hope so...I've just done the same thing!
I have hired people in the past who have applied after the official closing date. I thought it showed eagerness!

monkeysox · 05/03/2017 21:34

I've don't this before and got the job Grin
Good luck

Oh I've heard some places now get a required number of applications and then close instead of having an official closing date, so annoying

altiara · 05/03/2017 21:38

I think you have a better chance than not having done that! At the end of the day, the closing date is so you can just start the next stage of the process.

livingthegoodlife · 05/03/2017 21:42

better to try than not try - you never know!

im also strict about my closing date when hiring but usually because we have so many candidates i have to stop them somehow. plus i need to get on with sifting and interviewing.

good luck.

I usually close jobs on Friday but accept any applications up until Monday morning.
Please don't ring up and insist that your application is accepted though, with a long tale of woe about how you would have got it in in time except for zzzzzzzzzz. That phone all will not get anyone on your side. The recruiter will have decided whether they can accept it or not and a Whitney phone call won't change that

A better chance than if you hadn't! If they've already started sorting the candidates and they have lots of good quality applicants, you might get ignored. But I've interviewed people that applied after the deadline, because I want the best person.

Hopeinhell2017 · 05/03/2017 22:03

Yes, really hoping they won't start looking at applications til Monday. And that they haven't had hundreds of applicants!!
