Cat just brought in this poor sparrow

I've got the cat away and put the sparrow in the garden but it's just blinking and not moving...I don't want to leave it to die but I think it's fatally injured, should I just have let the cat at it to put it out of its misery? The bloody cat brought it in just as I was off out to work Sad I feel terrible just leaving it outside...not an AIBU but I want to cry at it's poor little face

It's flown away!!!! The cat came back out and as I chased him away from the sparrow it took flight!

Perhaps it was just stunned? Or playing dead? Not sure if sparrows do that though.
Our cat once brought in a mouse that he had paralysed. I only realised when he left it and it started dragging itself around the floor. I had to leave him to finish it off. That was pretty grim.

Oh no, that was my fear! I didn't know what to do with it as if I'd left it in the garden he'd have brought it back in and probably made a huge mess with it in the house! The relief when it flew away...
