So please share all your secrets with me. What did you buy from Rome?
Going soon for a city break!

Not a lot as it was expensive! What kinds of things do you have in mind and what's your budget?

There's a guy around the corner from Trevi who will cut you a great deal on a Rolox.

There's a leather glove shop on the main road by the Spanish Steps, definitely worth a visit, even if you don't buy.
Also if you have kids, packs of toy Roman soldiers from street vendors near the Colosseum - kitsch but cute.

My budget for shopping is around €1000.

What I'd like to buy is great clothes and mostly cosmetics/make-up but open to anything else

DF took DM for a romantic mini break years ago, just after the Euro came in. V v naice hotel. Her suitcase didn't arrive; the airline apologised and said it would be there the following day. So she went down to the little shop to get some underwear, came back with a bra and 2 pairs of knickers.

Bit later on, she is looking at the receipt and says to DF, "is this still in lira ?"

No, it was Euros. Unknowingly she'd gone to la Perla........

So yeah, if you're buying underwear, it can be pricey

Applebite - exactly the same thing happened to me in Rome years ago - beware of La Perla. We bought beautiful leather notebooks and a gorgeous photo album. Italy always good for leather...and jewellery.

Delphiniumblue I bought some beautiful violet leather gloves from that shop.

So its not even Italian it is Spanish but they have Desigual shops there .....
