My babies are sent to torture me

DC3 is currently sat with me on the sofa because she refuses to go to sleep. She used to be good and then everyone since NY has been totally shit.

One night last weekend she was awake for 5 fucking hours in the night, for no bloody reason whatsoever!!

All 3 have been fairly shit overall, middle one didn't sleep through til 3 1/2. I nearly lost my mind.

Why do I get the crap ones?! I know someone with 2 kids and she had no more than 12 disturbed weeks FOR BOTH CHILDREN COMBINED!!!!!

AIBU to assume I was a real bastard in a past life??

lighthearted i tell my children that my grandchildren are revenge for what they did to me and their father when they were that age, i promise it does get better as they get older big hugs sleep deprivation is the worst thing in the world

Three bad sleepers! That's a rough deal indeed . DD has been a terrible sleeper for most of her 2 year old life and, although I'm 99% sure I want another baby, really wonder how I will cope with all that torture again!

#1 was a dream of a baby, easy to feed, easy to sleep, contented anywhere.
Then he turned three and woke up a different child. He's six now and has discovered the joys of dressing up - as Darth Vader of course. Why not be the baddest of badass villains?
As for #2.... Well he's nearly three and categorically Does Not Do Sleep.
Unless its a really inconvenient time of day, like just as our lunch is arriving in a café. Suddenly, droopy eyes and he's off.
My sanity has been tested and very much found wanting.

I had bad sleepers too. And a large gap in between them, so as soon as I'd got one sorted, the next one came along and it was back to square one. I swear I didn't sleep for more than 3 continuous hours between 1994 and 2006. You plod on, grab it when you can get it, beg steal or borrow childcare which enables you to shuffle off upstairs for an hour, keep a pillow and blanket hidden down the side of the sofa 'just in case'. It's amazing what you can survive.
I always comforted myself by saying that I was having my hard times when the DC were young. All those people whose babies slept through at 6 weeks, well, they would have their sleepless nights later when their DC were teenagers and that would be much scarier. At least I didn't have to worry about drink, drugs, sex, teenagers in cars and all that.
Don't ask me if that's proved to be correct.
And don't advance search me on the teenagers topic.
Just trust me it will get better. And stockpile Proplus.

I worry one of us may be dead before it passes and gets better.

I had two bad sleepers. DD1 didn't sleep through until she was 3, by which time DD2 was 3 months old. She also didn't sleep through until she was 3.

It sends shivers through me when I think about those years.

I hear you! I don't think you were a bastard in a previous life..my theory is that on the whole babies are crap sleepers and if you get a good one you're very lucky. I have three kids, youngest is currently waking at 11.30pm EVERY SINGLE NIGHT then not really settling until 4am. I don't know how I'm holding down my job, being a decent mum/wife or making it through the day. So sorry to hijack your post but you aren't alone. I know it's a matter of time as middle and eldest (yr2 and yr9) sleep well but for now I've resided myself to bottom bunk sleeping or sleep overs in our bedroom. It's tough but you aren't alone.
