to ask where to go on holiday

1 week. Flying from Manchester or Bradford in June with DH and DS who will be nearly 3.

When we went away last time, flight was 4 hours and after the first 2 he was pretty restless so I guess right now we would be restricted to 2 hours?

Spain.

Budget? What kind of holiday? Beach/sun/lazy? City break/buzzing/culture?

You can reach South of France/Catalonia in around two hours, Italian Lakes a tiny bit longer. All good for sun, sea (or water), scenery, a city trip. culture, food.

We've been away with DS twice. Both times to Gran Canaria. 2015 he was 10 months. 2016 he was 22 months.

Would like somewhere hot. Beach. Ideally hotel and all inclusive but happy to go self catering too.

Must be geared to keep DS happy/entertained.

We're trying Mallorca this year for the first time. The short flight time appealed to me and I was tempted by a brilliant thread in the short haul section.

Heman Whereabouts are you going? We've been to Calla Millor in Mallorca.

Malta / Gozo? Or Sardinia?

curlycat · 27/02/2017 14:21

Salou is fab for families

MadameJosephine · 27/02/2017 14:23

We are going to Malta this year, flight is about 3 and a half hours

Branleuse · 27/02/2017 14:27

south of france

HemanOrSheRa · 27/02/2017 14:27

We are going to Playa De Muro. Staying here - www.sovereign.com/hotel/119075. There is a larger 'sister' hotel next door which we can use too so plenty of onsite stuff. There are lots of beachfront AI hotels in Mallorca! I drove myself nuts looking at them all. DS is 12 and we wanted somewhere with pool and beach access. I know AI isn't to everyone's taste but we tried it last year for the first time. I wish we'd done it years ago - brilliant for DS. I'm looking forward to exploring the island too.

Croatia. Cheaper than mainstream Europe, fab sunshine, people, food. Nice coast & cities in Dalmatia.

Littlecaf · 27/02/2017 14:47

Croatia is maybe a bit far for 4 hours but it's doable.

Portugal - flight time is around 2 1/2 hours. Hot weather, nice food, head to somewhere like Alvor or Carvoiera which has lovely beaches and restaurants but relatively unspoiled and non touristy
