Threatening language

He would never do it I am sure, but it's really not right to snarl "I'll batter you" with an ugly twisted face, is it? No other threatening gestures or body language.

No it's not right.

It will escalate.

And never fall into the trap of thinking they won't do it. They will, they just want you desensitised and compliant first. So they speak to you like that until it's no longer something you question.

MrsandMrsSmith · 25/02/2017 08:49

Even if you don't think he'll do it - and you can't really be sure of that - trying to control you with threats is enough to show this is not a man to be with.

yousignup · 25/02/2017 08:50

Yes that's what I didn't want to hear but I think you're right.

Why are you sure he would never do it? It sounds as though he would

Either way, LTabusiveB

Ifailed · 25/02/2017 08:52

The fact he said means it's crossed his mind, he might do it next time.

yousignup · 25/02/2017 08:55

He's stupid. He sounds so thick when he speaks.

OP posts:
YawningHippo · 25/02/2017 09:02

Please tell me the appeal of this relationship?

He is abusive and you are dismissive of his intelligence.

Either way, do not give him the opportunity to take his threat further. It sounds like there is nothing worth staying for.

yousignup · 25/02/2017 09:05

When angry and defensive he becomes blokey and vulgar and just sounds so stupid. His accent changes also. That's what I mean.

OP posts:
YawningHippo · 25/02/2017 09:09

Why was he angry? Does it happen often?

yousignup · 25/02/2017 09:09

I mean it's like a posturing nasty swagger. It's awful to watch and listen to.

OP posts:
yousignup · 25/02/2017 09:10

Because I told him he's nasty when drunk.

OP posts:
YawningHippo · 25/02/2017 09:12

And his response was that?

Really OP, that is not right on any level. Please don't keep yourself in this environment.

DevelopingDetritus · 25/02/2017 09:52

So he's done it a few times then. Not good at all. Run!
